If Mike Pence has any actual aspirations to the Presidency (and this goes for Pompeo too), I think it should start dawning on him that if Trump DOES make it 8 years, in 2024 he's going to heavily push for either Don Jr or Ivanka to succeed him and not a non-family member, no matter how loyal. Trump Dynasty must not be denied

Well, today's posts are pretty much par for the course. Trump is an imbecile (moron according to Tillerson) and so are Pompeo and Bolton. The NYT and WAPO are full of OP-EDs highly critical of the Trump administration's activities over the last week including the G20 side bars and Trump's surprise visit to the Korean DMZ. Theater is what it is and I don't dispute that.
I'll have to admit it's reality TV but even that, in terms of the ludicrous shows adapting that format, has an occasional serious outcome. It is becoming increasingly hard to defend even the Trump administration's policy and PDJT's conduct is utterly indefensible. I could go with Hanni's description, he is a cancer..... except at home the Repbublic, as it was designed, has done a pretty good job of keeping guardrails in place to limit the damage some of his really stupid undertakings(e.g., the wall) might have otherwise had. Other international bodies and countries have done the same internationally it would seem.
But, if you want to go strictly by outcomes, and you believe the horribly biased news coming from Israel re Iran, (1) The Chinese and the US are back at the negotiating table, (2) Rocket Man says his bromance with Trump is as good as ever - and talks on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula will resume, (3) Nobody is paying attention to the Mullah's who command a sinking ship in Iran, (4) Global markets are likely to respond positively on Monday when the exchanges open........ but none of these outcomes are as simple as I've just listed them. Fine for the masses, but not for the deep thinkers here.
China Trade: I've read several good articles on the reality that regardless of what comes out of resumed negotiations, damage has already been done to the supply chains of major corporations that do business in or with China. It will take a while, assuming that tariff's are all abandoned (and they won't be) to recover. The point is, as I said up thread, short term tariff's are ok, long term ones are not - at least that according to Adam Smith who's economic views, amazingly, still frequently apply. I think a real uptick in indicators of economic health will depend on what the two sides actually do. China is not going to codify the things the US wants it to so, actual measures of how much China is willing to give on the US demands list is going to remain unknown. It's also not going to be easy in real terms to say if, "the economy is good, stupid," a Trump campaign talking point, or it's not. The haters and nay sayers will bring out reams of analysis that shows Trump is lying about how good the economy is. It will take a lot of digging to determine if the economy is good or not so good for an informed vote for Trump or for Socialism in the upcoming 2020 election.
NK: Talk is good. Doing nothing and continuing to repeat nothing, is not. That's the dance and I suspect it will continue to be just that. Experts are suggesting Kim might give up a nuclear reactor or two but he will never abandon his goal of becoming a real nuclear power and elevating the status of his country to equal that of the world's major players. So far, Trump has facilitated that with his realty TV approach to dealing with an otherwise despicable NK government led by a thug who remains in power by executing his opponents or anyone that openly speaks ill of him or his programs. Oh, wait, that's Communism, Islamic Socialism, authoritarianism in all it's evil forms cloaked in false benevolence. Not much to talk about with Putin/Russia but that guy is in the same boat as XI, Kim, Ali Khamenei and Maduro). That Trump treats some of them as his best buds is shockingly inappropriate for an American president.
Global markets as an indicator of economic strength. I've made it pretty clear here that I see global markets as a decent if not imperfect (as DSL points out) leading indicator of global economic strength. However, it's hard to really know with any clarity because figures lie and lairs figure. There is a myriad of ways, a lot of them interrelated, to measure economic strength and frequently the math is beyond most of us. But, hey, my life is good. So, there is that.
Iran: Ask again later.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

US position should be NK must give up all nukes (maybe to China for destruction?) in return for sanction relief. None of this close-one-nuke-reactor-gradually-for-sanction-relief that NK is offering. Definitely do not allow NK to retain nukes.
Kudos to whoever leaked the story, if true. Force the First Traitor, kicking and screaming, to act in America's national interest for the first time in his fucking life.
Other Trump failures in the news:
Iran claims to have exceeded uranium limits. https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/01/middleeast/iran-uranium-intl/index.html ;
Trump administration continued to ease restrictions on China, removing eight companieshttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/30/u...ina-trade.html
Trump again shits on American intelligence by stating "nobody has directly pointed a finger" at bin Salman in the Khashoggi murder. https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/29/polit...man/index.html“Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.” - Groucho Marx

I gotta say, I anticipated a lot of bad political ideas coming out of the D debates, but I didn't see the embrace of busing as one of them. I tell ya, if you can run on taking away private insurance, essentially asylum for all (open borders) and forced busing, well, that has to be a winner.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Forced busing is one of those issues that you get called a "racist" if you come out against. And there's nothing that politicians, especially Republicans, are more terrified of than that word. I guess what I am trying to say is that it won't be an issue of negative consequence for the Democrats for embracing busing, because nobody will ever hold it against them as a campaign issue. And Republicans are too stupid to nationalize easy winners like this because of the "racism" thing. The same goes for loony ideas like slavery reparations. I'm pretty sure slavery reparations is an appalling notion to the swing voters in flyover country who handed all of those new seats to the Democrats. But come election time, nobody will remind them that voting Democrat is why that discussion is now seriously happening.Last edited by Hannibal; July 1, 2019, 01:53 PM.

Last week in Portland, Antifa goons did their usual thing of violently attacking people expressing their rights to free speech. Nothing new here. Violent street goonery is the MO of Communist shitheads, dating back to at least the early 1900s. Same thing happened in Charlottesville, actually. But this time they made one mistake. They attacked a gay Asian guy, throwing milkshakes of caustic quick dry cement at him and bashing him so hard that he was hospitalized with a brain injury. They also stole his camera.
Here is a video of our modern heroes on the left, bravely fighting the Nazis:
I'm pretty sure that they are spraying him with mace too.
Bad luck for Antifa. If Andy Ngo was a white heterosexual guy, nobody would care. But this case is getting special attention because of the irony of a gay minority guy being the victim. Ted Cruz has called for a federal investigation of Portland's mayor, who has openly sided with Antifa and encouraged their goony behavior in the past by instructing his police force to stand down and let them be violent. Well done, Ted. Too bad he's alone in being a Republican with balls.
Here are a couple of videos of what happens to drivers in Portland when they make the mistake of thinking that they have a right to use the roads that their taxes pay for if Antifa is out.

BTW, I'm not exaggerating when I say that if Andy Ngo had been a white guy, nobody would have cared.
Here are videos that show at least two other Nazis getting their comeuppance from the brave members of the left. Same day. Beaten worse than Andy Ngo. No news coverage. Lesson -- if you are going to goon it up, make sure that it's a white guy.
