        • Make no mistake: if Trump is elected again, it will not be the work of right-wing, bible-thumping, hard-liners. It will be the work of the work of democratic contenders who promise reparations to LGBQ and Blacks, student loan forgiveness, open borders, and a 90% tax rate for wealthy and substantially raising taxes on businesses.

Unfortunately, the democratic field is busy trying to promote these things in an effort to prove they are leftist enough.

          Maddening.

            • I just hate both sides. But the democrats disappoint me the most. The latest grassroots democratic drum to bang is against a company called Wayfair. They make furniture. The detention camps' mgmt has been placing large orders with them. A group of employees at Wayfair dislike that the company is "supporting" the camps and democrats are helping them demagogue.

Of course the furniture company is selling to them, and your moral outrage is that the government is providing them chairs, beds, and tables? You think the government is gonna say, "well, I guess you are free to roam America now; you are hereby granted citizenship due to us not having enough chairs for you to sit on."?

              bah.

It wasn't the work of Right-wing bible thumpers last time either. Trump was the first guy to go in and win Iowa without making abortion his #1 issue. The influence of the religious right in the Republican Party is waning. Good fucking riddance. Basing all of your arguments on the bible is a good way to lose. A solid majority of the country wants a secular government and separation of church and state, and I think that most people doubt the sincerity of politicians when they speak of religion. You need secular arguments to win.

                • Creepy Joe was a shoe-in, but he is busy trying to "prove" that he is just as leftist as Warren, Harris, and Crazy Bernie. i believe he changed some of his rhetoric after the dems ate him up for the first part of the year to show support to #MeToo. He now has to prove how "woke" he is.

                  • Maybe you're right and all that you mention translates to this election, but I still remember a projection that showed HRC had a 92% chance of victory in 2016. The rhetoric of the current democratic field pushes centrists and moderates to pull the lever for Trump, imo.

Correct. It's way of the Outrage Culture.

Depends. If the economy is still strong and foreign affairs remain seemingly in control, then it's certainly possible. People hate PDJT, but if things are going well then it's going to be hard for them to rock the boat. And the Ds are promising a motherfucking 75 foot tsunami waive of boat rocking.

Exactly. With a strong economy on one side and Liz Warren (et al) promising a few trillion in giveaways they are making unseating Trump much harder than it should be.

                            • First two cases of the day -- Gorsuch again sides with the "left" justices in a criminal matter. He is great.

Far more meaningful, the Court upholds agency deference in interpretting ambiguous rules -- but Kagan really alters what that has meant. It's a pretty big deal, IMO. At least on a very quick read. Gorsuch would do away with the deference for the same general reasons he sided with the lefties in the criminal cases.
