  • ...... and this is another interesting development on the international security stage. I can't figure out where the confrontational strategy manifested in the US's "threat" to deny the sale of F35s to Turkey if they buy and deploy the Russian S-400 Air Defense system (similar to the US Patriot Missile system) is coming from (Pompeo?). Doesn't seem to fit Trump's apparent affection for Putin and his preference to ignore all the shit Putin has pulled in the Crimea, Syria and Venezuela.

In an air defense environment, the F35 cannot be integrated with the S-400 missile system whereas it can be integrated with Patriot. This one is a head scratcher.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

        • Jeff - Right now it's just a threat. Turkey manufacturers (on a sole source contract) several sub-components of the F-35. Tooling up an alternative will take a little time.

I think, not sure, that co-ordination software tying a fighter (in this case the F-35) to a missile battery is not compatible with the S-400s. You'd need the source code for the S-400 fire control system to create the integration. I don't believe that Trump's supervisor in Moscow has approved that transfer of information.

AW&ST had an explanation a few months back. Registration is free at Aviation Week but the search function is s-s-s-s-l-l-l-l-l-l-o-o-o-o-o-w-w-w.

            • That method would have to be more effective than the patch they are using on Merriman.

                        • Its an act. Storming out of meetings while ranting and making pouty face is his thing. He did virtually the exact same thing when he shut down the government. Worked out well for him.

                            • yeah? two years on an investigation found no collusion, so what are you accusing him of covering up?

the dems had a shot to take him down, and now that has fallen apart, they are grasping at whatever they can, and are demanding a do over.

                              • He walked into the meeting, asked if they are accusing him of a cover-up (Mueller Report is public, a less redacted version is available for members of congress), and he walked out.

Imagine how weak Jeb Bush would be. Or Mitt Romney

You don't get a fucking do-over because you lost.
