  • DSL's favorite, David French, with a couple of pretty good and obvious recent takes:

    (1) this bullshit about searching through comments nobody cared about years ago to manufacture outrage has got to stop (in this case, he calls out folks on the right): https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/...-legal-threat/

    (2) the preposterously activist Connecticut Supreme Court allowing the Sandy Hook survivors to sue Remington: https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/...-legal-threat/

It'll take awhile, but eventually Connecticut is going to get assfucked by the Supreme Court.

    • Speaking of the Supreme Court, this happened yesterday.

SC declines to hear appeal from a Bed & Breakfast owner who refused to rent a room to a lesbian couple

The justices declined to hear a challenge to a lower court ruling that found the B&B owner violated a state anti-discrimination law by turning away the couple.

it will get overturned. the ability to sue was limited to deceptive advertisements or something to that effect, not for the murders. of course that didn't stop the left from cheering thinking they found a way to overturn the 2nd Amendment

we were a few hundred thousand votes away from a completely packed activist SCOTUS that would have destroyed the Bill of Rights

Bogus charge? Colluded with the Russians? Not at all what I'm talking about here. Trump hasn't been charged with anything that I know of. There have been allegations of illegal activity surrounding the Trump Organization. My gut tells me there's nothing that is going to come from the Mueller investigation on Trump showing he colluded with the Russians.

My concern with Trump's fitness to serve as president is based on two concerns: (1) The likelihood that he used his presidential campaign and the office of the president to further his own business interests. This concern is based on information in the public domain that state's AGs have been looking into Trump's business activities that may be illegal. (2) His mental fitness - we can debate this and I respect your medical background providing insight. I don't think he is mentally fit to serve. YMMV.

Absolutely agree with you. However, if the Mueller investigation or any of the state's AG investigations reveal criminal activity on the part of Trump that meets the definition of "high crimes and misdemeanors," the Speaker is going to be hard pressed not to entertain an impeachment proceeding that is undoubtedly going to be initiated in the House.

            • There's a pretty good chance that the only reason Trump hasn't already been indicted on charges related to the Stormy Daniels payments is because he's President. There's also a pretty strong chance the SDNY will indict him if he loses in 2020. We can debate the seriousness of those charges or his odds of winning at trial, but I think the likelihood that he's eventually going to face them is pretty high.

The Federal Statute is fairly clear, and it's entirely clear that Plaintiffs and the Connecticut Supreme Court don't much care about it.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court may not be inclined to hear the case until the defendants actually lose in the lower court. But, maybe they will.

I agree with that. The SDNY USA is a political entity and they are going to be political. It's much more the province of the FEC. They ought to decide if there was a trivial violation of election laws and how to handle it. As they did when Obama improperly used elections funds.

But, that's not what will happen.

More on point, there remains no evidence of conspiracy -- an actual crime -- and only threads of evidence of the grossly ambiguous "collusion" -- depending on your own subjective read of that blob of a term.

The analogy to PWJC could end up being perfect. Investigated for real reasons. Exonerated on those. Caught up in bullshit.

I think it's fair to point out too that two guys at AMI, Michael Cohen, and the CFO of the Trump Org all took immunity deals specifically to avoid charges related to campaign finance. So whatever else we may think about them, a number of defense attorneys considered the charges a real enough threat to recommend cooperation. Fair to presume these attorneys have a degree of competence and are more aware of the actual facts and circumstances than any of us are.

SDNY just posted this morning a redacted version of the Michael Cohen search warrants. There's literally 500+ pages of documents. Reportedly the materials regarding the campaign finance violations are almost 100% redacted. Can read things into that.

EDIT: Warrants also indicate that Mueller had zeroed in on Cohen as early as July 2017, just two months after he had been appointed.

fairly certain the steele dossier was created with the sole purpose of bringing down trump with brennan, Loretta, and clapper hatching the plot with the approval of who knows

nice of McCain to be a tool ensuring all that fiction got out there cockblocking the incoming president before he even got started

you got a lot of stuff being released and a lot of info the new AG, graham and certain members of the house are going to seize upon and expose those bad players over the next few months.
