The Justice Department’s inspector general referred its findings on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to the US attorney’s office in Washington for possible criminal charges associated with lying to internal investigators, according to a source familiar with the matter.

          • Great piece on Trump's long history of exaggerating his wealth.

In his book, O’Brien criticized Forbes for rewarding Trump’s fabrications, citing interviews with “three people with direct knowledge of Donald’s finances” who estimated his true net worth after debts to be “somewhere between $150 million and $250 million.” Trump, who had told O’Brien he was worth $6 billion, sued for libel — and lost. When he lost his appeal in 2011, a New Jersey appellate judge wrote, “The largest portion of Mr. Trump’s fortune, according to three people who had had direct knowledge of his holdings, apparently comes from his lucrative inheritance. These people estimated that Mr. Trump’s wealth, presuming that it is not encumbered by heavy debt, may amount to about $200 million to $300 million. That is an enviably large sum of money by most people’s standards but far short of the billionaires club.”

            • Wesley So, beloved favorite of The Wizard, and Varuzhan Akobian score wins again! They now sit top of the table with 2 points. Caruana also won as did Ray Robson to stay with 0.5 points of the leaders. Meanwhile, erstwhile AlabamAlum favorite, Yaroslav Zherebukh, slogged his way to a draw against Hikaru Nakamura (yes, this is the US Chess championship). Today, So and Akobian take their first stab at playing Black. Sitting at maximum points early, I fully expect both players to be very conservative and be quite happy with the draw. Caruana is also black and will probably end up drawn against the competent Jeffrey Xiong.

Of note, So is probably Caruana's biggest challenge and Caruana must play black against him. It's imperative, then, that Caruana match So's white performance.

                • Of course, Caruana flummoxed Lenderman's rather aggressive French Defense with the h4 line and, for some reason, Lenderman wasn't too keen on b6. Instead of further closing off the board with a King that can't castle -- consistent with the French ideas, he opted to open it up and ended up getting thrashed. Beaten off the end part of the opening. Poor show.

                      • I don't think it's any surprise that Trump wildly exaggerates things. From inauguration size to wealth to whatever else.

I don't think the wealth thing matters with his base. They are either just as impressed with his $300 million net worth or they believe he is so crafty that he is hiding the rest of it from the IRS.

yeah, should be interesting to see.

the Comey memos also pose a problem for the #GentryProgs too, which confirms that Trump told Comey to keep investigating Russian interference, even if it's his close high level advisers. Wherever the trail lead.

also, in the memo about Comey's meeting with Trump about the dossier, he told Trump that the media has the unverified information (didn't tell him who paid for it) and were looking for a news hook. That meeting was held in private at the behest of DNI James Clapper, 0bama's shady, lying director of National Intelligence that now works at CNN, and included Mike Rogers and John Brennen. Then all of a sudden the meeting and contents of the meeting were leaked to CNN which gained the dossier some level of "credibility" in the media

it was reported under the headline "Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him"

This is the start of the Russian frenzy, and the media coverage, including Buzzfeed's releasing of the unverified dossier.

So, to recap we have 0bama's DNI requesting a meeting with Comey and Trump about the dossier that per Comey the media had and were looking for a "news hook" for an excuse to report on it. That meeting served as that "news hook", when the knowledge and contents of the meeting were leaked to CNN. It seems to be the sole reason why DNI Clapper, now National Intelligence contributor with CNN, requested the meeting. That meeting was a setup.

Also have confirmation that creep Comey told Trump in private at least three times that he was not the target of the investigation, yet refused to state that publicly. And that Comey likely leaked classified government property when he sent some of the memos to his friend to leak to the press for the sole reason to build pressure for a special council. Comey not just deserves to be fired, he deserves to be prosecuted.

                          Comment

                          • also, if it was him that leaked that info about the meeting to CNN, he needs to be prosecuted for perjury, stating that he never leaked or ordered anyone else to leak to the press in his congressional testimony.

I wonder if the OIG report mentions this leak to CNN and the name Andrew McCabe (who claimed Comey told him to leak)....

                              • Can't we just start taking this page from the left's playbook and demand that she be fired? There is no first amendment protections, as they say, from being fired for saying dumb shit.

You can stay pure all you want, and that won't stop the left from coming after your livelihood for saying something non PC.
