We take you now to reaction from the Trump legal team and WH staff

EDIT: At the time, Trump did not mention 'lying to the FBI' as being part of why Flynn was fired. That occurred Feb 13. Trump then told Comey in a private meeting on Feb. 14 to 'let it go' with the case against Flynn. This tweet today implies that Trump knew Flynn had lied to the FBI when he asked Comey to drop it. That is not a good thing for their argument that the President made no efforts to obstruct the investigation.

This is a good example of why the people around Trump keep pleading with him to stop tweeting shit about the Mueller probe. But he can't help himself.
Trump knew what Flynn told the FBI. It was the same thing he told Pence. And when info came out that he had lied, It's safe to assume Trump knew that not only had he lied to Pence, he also lied to the FBI, and fired him.

And he never instructed Comey to drop it. He may have suggested it, but it wasn't an order to Comey. "I hope you can let this go", expressing ones hope isn't an order.

Kobach's Voting Commission appears to have pretty much faded away as well. Members of the commission have emailed to ask when the next meeting is and have gotten no response.

Here's a good lengthy article from earlier this year on Republicans organizing snipe hunts for two decades.

What is wrong with waiting until the guy is willing to release the data? He says he needs a couple of months. Let's give him a couple of months. I just don't understand why you progs are so paranoid about this subject. Let the data come out.

Oh, and how about passing a law where every American citizen can, at no charge, get a copy of their birth certificate, or any other document that proves they are eligible voters under current law. It wouldn't cost that much in comparison to all the fraud that is going on.

Now, DSL, I understand you would oppose this, but why? Why wouldn't it be best for the country to have each voter be able to prove they are a citizen? How about biometric scanning? Another good idea. Why do you want non-citizens to be able to vote?

Cons like you have been fighting against a national voter database for decades. Leave it up to the states, you'd scream. Now you essentially want it to fight what you call 'voter fraud'. Biometric scanning? Oh! Suddenly you're all in favor of there being a national citizen registry, with DNA, fingerprints, retinal scans, and the whole ball of wax.

You believe in the work of liars and frauds. Grifters. Write Kobach or Gregg another check and just keep telling yourself "oh the proof of 3-5 million illegal votes will come to light any day now".

              • Not as much noticed as any Russia stuff, Flynn finally admitted in his plea deal that he was being paid by the Turkish government (he was paid $500,000 overall) to act as a lobbyist of sorts during the campaign. On Election Day itself he wrote a column calling for the US to extradite Gulen to Turkey.

It was already known Michael Flynn took money from a Turkish businessman while he was advising Trump's campaign. Friday, he acknowledged that Turkey's government supervised what he was doing.

                    Goodness, your paranoia is palpable.

                    1. I said nothing about a national database. I said I'd like to see the national government make it totally cost-free to the voter and to the county clerks who keep the birth information. It seems to me that the SSA has a fairly complete national database now anyway. Don't put thoughts from your paranoid brain into my mouth.

                    2. I have been 100% consistent in saying I have no idea how much fraud there is, but that we should find out. Your idea that there were only 6 or 10 or whatever "proven" cases of voter fraud is below even your level of discourse. How would you prosecute such a case?

                    3. As for donations, I've lived by one rule all my life: Never give to a politician, you'll only encourage the bastard.

We have the technology now to give every citizen a voter ID card with photo ID and bar codes. That is far cheaper than having fraudulent voters swing elections. Hannibal was the one who originally brought up the Dem plan to change the demographics of the country since the American people vote repeatedly to limit the socialist agenda.

And, I think we are focusing on illegals too much in these discussions. Big city machines are renowned for their fraud. But we never really could prove it until the Florida recount. You remember the "dimpled" chads? Strange, that is something that is impossible to produce if you have one punch card in the box. But if you take, say, 20 cards and put them in the box, then you can dimple them. What was done in FL was the "holders" of the ballots would pack them into a box and make a big push for Gore. If the voter had voted for Gore, no harm. But if the voter voted for anyone else, you got a spoiled ballot. And what about the precincts that reported thousands of votes for Hillary and zero for Trump. Really?

I got my information from the Huston City Clerk in an article in the WSJ Houston had moved away from the punch card system and the clerk explained how the fraud was being perpetrated. Houston went from a "spoiled ballot" rate of 4% to a rate of .004% using their new method. That decline was over a two year period.

Strange, I keep having to correct your, shall we say, slant on the news. Comey testified that Trump said to Comey, "I hope you can let this go...". DSL, I understand you don't exactly lie, but you leave the impression that Trump told Comey to let it go. I understand that this is a precursor of your belief that there was obstruction of justice when Comey was fired.

This is an article that does the same type of thing you routinely do in this forum. Sounds bad, and I have no reason to doubt the facts. But what the article OMITS (like you do) is that in 2013, 40% of taxpayers paid no federal income tax, and by 2015, 45% of filers paid no FIT. This year we were told that 50% of filers pay no FIT.

So it is true that lots of people are not going to get a tax cut because it is hard to get lower than zero.

But never fear, the Rs have as a part of this package increased the child care tax credit from $ 1,200 to $ 1,600 in the House version, and $ 2,000 in the Senate version. So the final bill almost certainly will send larger checks to those who can't or won't work. It is like Milo Minderbinder: everyone gets a share.

                          • Of course he did... I told my wife last night that this would happen. Didn't know who would claim it, but knew the Trumpster would say he didn't tweet it.

Jesus. These clowns are so fucking predictable.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, John Dowd, told CNN on Sunday that he wrote a tweet for the @realDonaldTrump Twitter account about the firing of former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn.

"I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI," the Saturday tweet reads. "He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!"
Dowd said he drafted the tweet and believes White House social media director Dan Scavino posted it online. He declined to answer additional questions about whether Trump reviewed the tweet before it was posted.
"Enough already," he said in an email. "I don't feed the haters."
The Washington Post reported Saturday that Dowd drafted the tweet, citing two people familiar with the Twitter message. NBC News' Chuck Todd also reported Sunday on "Meet the Press" that Dowd confirmed he authored the message.

Flynn pleaded guilty Friday to lying to the FBI about conversations he had with Russia's ambassador to the US during the transition and disclosed that he is cooperating with the special counsel Robert Mueller's office.
Dowd previously said the tweet paraphrased White House special counsel Ty Cobb's Friday statement on Flynn's guilty plea.
"The tweet was a paraphrase of Ty Cobb's statement yesterday," Dowd told CNN. "I refer you to (former FBI Director James) Comey's testimony before Congress about FBI view of Flynn's answers."
However, Cobb's statement on Friday does not say anything about Flynn's lies to the FBI being a factor in his firing.
Pressed about whether the tweet signaled Trump knew Flynn had lied to the FBI before firing him, Dowd rejected the assessment.
"At the time of the firing no one including Justice had accused Flynn of lying," Dowd told CNN. "Yates had reported he told the (agents) the same things he told VP. He was not accused of lying until last week."
In May, former acting Attorney General Sally Yates told a congressional panel that she had a meeting with White House counsel Donald McGahn on January 26 to tell him that she had information that statements by Vice President Mike Pence, based on his conversations with Flynn, were false. She was joined in the meeting by a senior career official in the Justice Department.
"We weren't the only ones that knew all of this, that the Russians also knew about what General Flynn had done and the Russians also knew that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others," Yates said, relating the contents of her conversation with McGahn.
Saturday's @realDonaldTrump tweet raised immediate questions on whether Trump knew Flynn had lied to the FBI when he fired him in February.
"...just couldn't resist commenting on Flynn," Walter Shaub, the former director of the United States Office of Government Ethics, tweeted. "Are you ADMITTING you knew Flynn had lied to the FBI when you asked Comey to back off Flynn?"
California Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, tweeted, "If that is true, Mr. President, why did you wait so long to fire Flynn? Why did you fail to act until his lies were publicly exposed? And why did you pressure Director Comey to "let this go?"
Comey said in testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee in June that Trump pressed him to end the investigation into Flynn. Trump continues to deny this, and on Sunday morning sent a tweet calling it a "Comey lie."
