  • USA Today did a lot of research to identify Trump golf course members through their handicap scores that are posted through the USA Golf Association. Guess what? A lot of lobbyists and influence-peddlers are members! Never would've guessed. Some even seem to frequently play on days when Trump is in town!

            • A day of celebration....my son got his braces off this morning, after suffering through an extra month because he wore his rubber bands as directed and his bite overcorrected. We were fearful of Sue Heck Syndrome for a spell.

Currently he is walking circles in the kitchen, stuffing alternating handfuls of butter and cheese popcorn into his mouth at a pace is, frankly, disturbing to witness.

              One down, one to go.

                  • Republicans leave White House stunned and angry after Trump sides with Pelosi and Schumer against them. On the plane ride to North Dakota he talked about how much he and "Nancy and Chuck" agreed on things. Didn't even mention McConnell or Ryan.

This could be permanent break between Trump and Congressional Republicans.

                    • At 10 am Paul Ryan told the press that a 3-month debt limit was a ridiculous idea and they'd never agree to what Pelosi and Schumer wanted. Hours later, Trump agree to it.

                      • Get rid of the debt ceiling, it's an anachronistic device that is prone to stupid brinksmanship. Absent removing it, it should be a clean lift and it should be longer off in the distance like the 18 months like they wanted. But if you have a big block who wants to get spending cuts in order for votes, the schumer deal is better.

                        • If we didn't spend more than we have, we wouldn't need such devices. Perhaps we should rethink our priorities and pay down some of principal debt to reduce interest obligations?

IMO a rethinking of priorities would first and foremost include an increase in revenue. The corporate-tax burden is particularly small here, especially in comparison with what a deal commerce gets from light-touch regulation. We wouldn't have been in this position in the first place without a whole bunch of untrue trickle-down nonsense. I think you start with a get-what-you-pay-for approach, and end this fiction that government can provide wanted services without being properly funded.
