  • Jonah Goldberg in NRO today

"Okay, well, it’s sort of a prequel to Liberal Fascism in the sense that I look at where ideological movements come from and why I think Western civilization is in real trouble. I’ve changed my mind about a lot of things over the last couple years. I still stand by LF, but I think intellectual history isn’t just a game of playing connect the dots. Philosophy, ideology, etc. are downstream of human nature, and human nature doesn’t change, which is why the same ideas keep popping up over and over again. We keep reinventing the same ideas with new labels again and again. Sometimes, they get called “right-wing”; sometimes, they get called “left-wing.” But statism is statism, whatever label you stick on it. Collectivism is tribalism whether you call it socialism or nationalism, fascism or Communism. The only really — really — new thing of the last 10,000 years is the miracle of liberal democratic capitalism, and I think we’re losing our commitment to it.

So, the UN calls for sanctions and China backs it up. How is that bad news for anybody?

Its not CGVT, its good news I see Trump is already celebrating and tweeting about it. And the Left will hate this. Trump is going to start a nuclear war! - How many here said that? This shoots that narrative down.

N Korea is nothing without China and they better comply.

You're the one that brought the soap.

Only a jury composed solely of Trump voters can possibly be fair to the Great Trump

Likewise, Geezer no doubt believes that, should Hillary ever go on trial, only Clinton loyalists should be allowed to compose the jury.

                      • When stories like Mueller's grand jury broke, Tucker discussed gypsies defecating on American sidewalks as his lead story. No one works harder to keep the memory of Hillary Clinton alive

Maxine and I think that this is the heart of it right there. There may be some sort of attempt to parade out some liberals, but increasingly it's Fox's unwillingness to cover the news of the day that is what's remarkable. It's the sins of omission. Substituting Seth Rich or xenophobia or Hillarywatch is a crime far worse than having Hannity on the air.

                        • From what we know about Flynn and Manafort and their dealings along with Kushner's lies on his disclosure documents, I don't think anybody has to worry about a fishing expedition. This is more like fishing in a stocked bass pond.

                          • What's going to be interesting is what happens when it's all over, including the pardons, of which there will probably be far more than is justified. Will there be some sort of truth-and-reconciliation process? Do we get a big reform of WH ethics rules? Is there going to be a legal reform? How far back will we look in the recent history of WH behaviors in order to make things should be illegal actually illegal?

                            Comment

                            • There will be no 'truth-and-reconciliation' process. Since when has/have/will Trump supporters recognize truth as anything other than what Dear Leader says it is? You are talking about lobotimized, hyper partisan lemmings. If Chump leaves office, in any manner, there are those in the GOP who will be disgusted and silent (thou shalt not besmirch the Party) and those that remain rabid zombies that continue to deny everything Dear Leader tells them to deny. Dems won't help, being too busy with a victory lap and 'I told you so' taunts.

Until we can get a viable 3rd party in place, I believe the US has entered into it's "Banana Republic Age". We just need to find Chump a funny looking hat and shiny medals to wear and it will be complete.
