  • Evidently, the Obama Administration unmasked hundreds of Americans, contrary to a FISA Court order issued in 2011, that required Obama to put in place procedures to assure 4th amendment compliance. This a quote from the article:

As Circa noted, the American Civil Liberties Union said the newly disclosed violations are some of the most serious to ever be documented and strongly call into question the U.S. intelligence community’s ability to police itself and safeguard American’s privacy as guaranteed by the Constitution’s Fourth Amendment protections against unlawful search and seizure.

“I think what this emphasizes is the shocking lack of oversight of these programs,” said Neema Singh Guliani, the ACLU’s legislative counsel in Washington.

“You have these problems going on for years that only come to the attention of the court late in the game and then it takes additional years to change its practices.

“I think it does call into question all those defenses that we kept hearing, that we always have a robust oversight structure and we have culture of adherence to privacy standards,” she added. “And the headline now is they actually haven’t been in compliance for years and the FISA court itself says in its opinion is that the NSA suffers from a culture of a lack of candor.”

    • Former Zero Hedge writer Colin Lokey said that he was pressured to frame issues in a way he felt was "disingenuous," summarizing its political stances as "Russia=good. Obama=idiot. Bashar al-Assad=benevolent leader. John Kerry=dunce. Vladimir Putin=greatest leader in the history of statecraft."[1] Zero Hedge founder Daniel Ivandjiiski, in response, said that Lokey could write "anything and everything he wanted directly without anyone writing over it."[1] On leaving, Lokey said: "I can't be a 24-hour cheerleader for Hezbollah, Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, and Trump anymore. It's wrong. Period. I know it gets you views now, but it will kill your brand over the long run. This isn't a revolution. It's a joke."
Sounds like a solid source of news you have there.

        • The Circa article referenced notes that the NSA admitted to violating rules for data searches on Americans, so called upstream searches. It states an increase in the unmasking of individuals but isn't clear if those violated any rules. Still, definitely concerns over the NSA self policing itself.

          • Greg Gianforte has been charged with misdemeanor assault. A local Fox tv crew was in the room when this happened and 100% backed up the reporter's story. Three Montana newspapers (so far) have rescinded their endorsements

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday called on Republican Greg Gianforte to apologize after he was charged with assaulting a reporter, but said he will leave it up to Montana voters to decide whether they want him to serve in Congress.

            • Punching a reporter will probably get him a landslide victory in Montana.
