  • Good post, SLF. "We disclose; you decide" is an approach people say they prefer.

At the same time, I'm not sure he did anything damaging to the country during his presidency. So he wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. Maybe it's too soon to tell/guess.
      Obama dramatically harmed the country.
      1) He is the only president who implemented policies that Congress had specifically rejected immediately before his executive orders.
      2) He is the only president to acknowledge breaking his oath of office, and taking great pride in doing so.
      3) He guaranteed Iran a nuclear bomb within 8 years, and obligated the US to defend Iran against enemies who might try to halt its production of a bomb.
      4) By not following through on his "red line" he substantially contributed to the largest humanitarian tragedy of this century.
      5) That tragedy caused mass migration to Europe and the social upheaval that followed.
      6) He turned Lybia into a failed state by allowing his SOS to take out the pro-American leader.
      7) He tried to install a Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt.

These are objective facts. No one will ever be able to estimate what damage the thousand of regulations he promulgated did to the economy and to individual freedom. He is/was the worst foreign affairs president in US history, and also the most race- centric person to hold that office. He frittered away a historical opportunity to heal the great birth defect of the US, racism.

So Hack.. How is publishing something you think may be wrong but you wanted to get it out there any different than what the right did during the election.
To correct the record, the "right" verified that the Podesta and DNC emails were, in fact, the real item. There is a difference between publishing documents that are what they are purported to be. That is where journalism comes into play. The same could be said of the Pentagon Papers.

This fake news and the documents supporting it are the exact equivalent of all the documentation the birthers used to "prove" that BO's birth certificate was a fake. It is nonsense, and actual journalists like Hack have an affirmative duty to source stories if they are publishing "documents"

"FAKE NEWS" was started by you guys, remember? Remember how Hillary only lost because all of those dump bumpkins watching Fox News (more like FAUX NEWS amirite?) and Alex Jones when they should have been listening to the noble purveyors of truth like CNN, The New York Times, and MSNBC?

          • JMO, but "Fake News" is more along the lines of a Facebook article that pops up in your feed saying

"Trump found out the truth about Obama's birthplace! You won't BELIEVE what he found!"

...followed up 3 paragraphs of outright fiction (and popup ads for penis extensions) that makes the Elvis sightings from the National Enquirer look reputable. At the bottom will be links to articles about man-eating crocodiles in Lake Erie, links to topless shots of Kate Beckinsdale and such.

            But, JMO.

LMAO at these dumb assholes thinking that they are still dealing with a Bush or some other Republican punching bag.

This is actually historical. Not only is trump looking for a fight but the reporter is inviting it.

                Fun 4 yrs.

                • I don't know much of what you are going on about in that post Geezer, but look -- are you gonna be the last person on Earth to admit the DNC hack? Apparently so.

That said, Trump can suck it. If this is ``fake news'', which is doubtful given the vetting its gone through thus far, then he has merely been hoisted on his own petard. If you don't like it, don't do it to others. As far as I'm concerned ``fake news'' is fair play now. I hope it is used to promote environmental conservation, multiculturalism, athiesm.

But the bottom line here is that if the intelligence community vetted this to the point that it was put in the briefings of POTUS and PEOTUS, then that's enough of an argument to make it news. Bitch at media all you want but they have simply done their jobs. CNN did it the traditional way, in saying ``here's something we're not gonna show you, but we'll interpret it for you". BuzzFeed, admirably in my book, took a new approach: ``we disclose, you decide". I think that's progress. Media is obviously in transition. Moving to a less patronizing approach is a good thing IMO.

OBJECTIVE? Good luck proving it. But I'd rather you come back to the sane side, actually. I miss you.

The story is not original. One of Hitler's opponents (name starts with an S) within the National Socialists reported to the OSS that Hitler had his half-niece (and supposed lover) urinate and defecate on him. I suspect that is why they used the "golden shower" motif in this particular example of fake news.
The thing I don't get about conspiracy theorists is how they think there's always a tell built in. You can make up anything, so why make up something that clues in anyone to the lie? The Pizzagate thing was a great example. If I'm running a pedo ring, why would I use an alias that translates to ``I love children" in another language?
