Dunno what you're talking about, Hannibal. Looks to me like no industries have been shut down under Obama. The only two data points there that really change course during his 8 years are the financial sector's rise and a big drop in the trade deficit. A cheap way to handle the latter is to bang at Trump's stupidity, and in fact if I were the Clinton campaign I'd do just that. But in truth it's probably mostly thanks to shale. Anyhow, overall, there's nothing here that supports any contention that any industries have been shut down, by White House EOs, corruption, power grabs or anything else.

I don't know that it's a perfect metric, but what's the case for it not being relevant at all?Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Nice review of the positives and negatives that have occurred. And yes, I do think some positives have happened with the national anthem protest with UNL players. And no, I don't agree with kneeling due to the respect of the flag/country, but the first amendment is more important than what I think.Last edited by entropy; September 28, 2016, 03:07 PM.Grammar... In general, I agree about EOs. The legal-weed story is all thanks to an EO ordering DOJ hands off, as I understand it. That's genuine progress. None of the worst-case scenarios have come to pass in the states where weed is legal. In Colorado roughly a third of tax income I think goes into a schools fund, and spending on improvements to schools is already underway. So EOs like that are one factor in evaluating the president. Another is that we have a president working with a Congress whose goal has been largely just to stop him from doing whatever it is he advocates doing. So of course that's going to lead to EOs and some of them are going to be good for all.
What's actually interesting about that number to me is that Obama will likely finish up with less EOs -- I had believed the common thought that he's done more. I wonder how much of his 235 have been things you could normally do together with Congress, but required EO because Congress is what it is.

I deleted my post.. You're just looking to be difficult if you don't understand a Regent by him or herself can't make the call they implied. AND you CHOSE to ignore the fact the coach, AD, Chancellor, and School President all spoke out for freedom of speech.
Daub made a bad comment that flies in the face of the school and his role. He's been publically squashed. But that doesn't sell nor does it fit agendas... now does it.Last edited by entropy; September 28, 2016, 02:57 PM.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

In most settings the Regents are the final word. At UM they hire and fire the president He certainly implied he was speaking for the school. Instead of trying to deny it own up to it. Question is would your president have issued his statement and had the others spoken up had the Regent not mouthed off and the vile racist hatred espoused in twitter not been made public.

Regardless, I don't think one can say that a Regent speaks for the University any more than a Congressman speaks for the United States; he is one voice of many. In this instance, I think Daub- who is a bit of a Poindexter type- was looking to score some star-spangled points with the Toby Keith crowd.

Silly? What's silly is sticking your head in the sand and not acknowledging that the vast majority of people who saw Nebraska's reaction to the player's protest saw the vitriotic racist rants and the rant of your Regent (whom most people wouldn't know from your President) and you all look like a bunch of buffoons .Silly is thinking that the vast majority saw the letter from your president.
