I am quite confident the average officer in America will view 3 black kids walking down the street late at night differently than 3 white kids.

Alton Sterling was arrested in 2009 essentially for committing the EXACT same crime. Did 5 years in jail for it.
CBS Baton Rouge affiliate WAFB-TV obtains 2009 police report detailing prior scuffle just like the one that led to his death
"The officer asked Sterling to put his hand on the hood of his police car and asked if Sterling had any weapons on him. The report says Sterling did "not answer" and, as the officer continued to pat him down, Sterling started reaching for his pocket.
The officer went on to say in the report that Sterling suddenly spun around and the two began to struggle. The officer and Sterling hit the ground. The officer said he was able to call for backup as Sterling tried to push him off.
"While wrestling with this subject on the ground, a black semi-auto hand gun fell from this subject's waist band at this time," the report states.
A deputy with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office arrived as the officer was on the ground with Sterling. The two eventually were able to get Sterling into handcuffs. "Sterling was then escorted to my unit, where he continued to fight with officers," the report ends.
After that incident, Baton Rouge Police charged Sterling with possession of marijuana, sound reproduction prohibited (for the CDs), illegal possession of a firearm with drugs, resisting an officer and illegal possession of a stolen firearm, says WAFB.
Sterling pleaded guilty to illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance. On July 19, 2011, he was sentenced to five years in prison, where he was until being granted parole on Dec. 5, 2013."Last edited by Prime2; July 13, 2016, 08:43 AM."Whole milk, not the candy-ass 2-percent or skim milk."

DSL is correct re violent crimes/murders (even as gun ownership has skyrocketed). He's also right about blighted urban areas.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Speaking of being right, it would be wise for you & your "social science" buddy to get the hell out of Ohio during the Republican National Convention, July 18th-21st.
Ohio is an open-carry state, 1000's will be adding guns to the powder keg and it's about to explode. Serious gun violence.
There's always plenty of room at the Chateau OP Plantation although DSL would need to tuck his ponytail and be freshly washed.
Cleveland is going to destroy Trump's convention."Whole milk, not the candy-ass 2-percent or skim milk."

Read a headline that Tom Brady may attempt to take his suspension to the Supreme Court, after having lost at 2CCA.
I cannot believe this even got the circuit level. The importance people put into sports in this country is ridiculous.

Originally posted by hack View Post.......The people that need to avail themselves feel differently - to the extent that they'd rather get arrested and make themselves targets for cops in the future than use those formal channels. Are you and I really and truly in a position to say whether they are right or not? What experience do we have that entitles us to dismiss their experiences and paint them all as extremists?
Second, people make choices all the time, some of them are right, some wrong. Let me ask you this: I am disturbed that when I received my electric bill it appears the provider overcharged me. I have a choice to make. I can choose to use the formal channels the company has established for customers to resolve billing disputes or I can stage a sit-in in front of the CEO's office carrying a sign that says, "you over-charged me and I want my money back you greedy bastard." Which method is the most likely one to resolve my dispute?
I apologize if I appear to be demeaning your position. However, this is pretty simple. The BLM movement can address their grievances through vehicles intended to do that or they can choose other inappropriate means and it is clear, in my view, they have. Other appropriate means include filing civil rights violation claims with the courts so that they can be adjudicated and resolved. Airing grievances before City Councils in politically respectful ways. Choosing quietly implemented tactics to influence outcomes, for example, boycotting companies that have questionable policies involving any kind of discrimination .... and there are plenty of those. In this country, for corporations doing business here, money talks. Decrease income and profits or create intense media scrutiny of company practices and behavior will change. Ask Sea World or McDonald's. Don't scoff at this and here's why:
The CEO of Chick-fil-A’s position on same-sex marriage has provoked a consumer boycott, mayoral threats of denied permits, a counter-boycott culminating in a “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” and a kiss-in. Company boycotts like this one are not new, but they have increasingly become the weapon of choice for NGOs and other activists aiming to further political […]
No, I have no personal experience with racial prejudice other than believing strongly it is wrong. But that does not exclude me from judging the choices BLM is making to, as they perceive it, address state violence against blacks. Nor does it exclude me from judging their chosen tactics, namely castigating the police and otherwise creating a perception of a nationwide problem with state violence that manifests itself as police brutality directed against blacks. I particularly object to the in-you-face tactics BLM, under Garza's strategic direction, have been adopted. These can be characterized as highly provocative and incendiary with regard to the role of law enforcement in the US.
I consider that to be harmful to the BLM movement's cause and dangerous to society.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Hoss:
You have a right of appeal for any district court decision. No surprise the NFL appealed because the district court really fucked it up. Brady's efforts now are prayers. The end banc 2nd C and Sup CT are not required to hear further appeals and there's zero reason for them to do so.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
