thank you.. Reagan and Bill C ran elections on gaining support from across the aisle or outside their base. Bush, Obama, and now Trump ran there elections on making sure more of their base showed up vs the other persons. It's been about energizing the base on simple messages.

HA. I repeat, I am not toothless! Good post.

      • Hillary didn't have a 'message', no one was moved by her like they were Trump, Obama, or even Bernie Sanders.

Her message was I should be the first woman president and I'm experienced. It wasn't what people wanted to here. The campaign had the energy of Bob Dole's.

            • Yup, I didn't think Trump had a chance. Amazed he swept Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, & Michigan. Those states along with Ohio, Florida, Virginia, & North Carolina will be huge battleground states in four years.

              • froot: That was a good article you posted. I never did understand why Hillary did worse in a 4-way race with Trump than she did in a 2-way (in the polls I mean). I guess I always thought Libertarians were "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" . Maybe we should go further and lump the "other" parties together and say many Johnson voters and all Green voters stayed loyal to Hillary, but the Trump voters left.

How about next time we all lie to the pollsters. That would fix the polling problem.

I get that Trump told rural America that he felt their pain but any of his prescriptions will worsen the pain. Gabriel Sherman is reporting that inside the Trump camp the agenda for his administration is unknown because even his staffers think it is a blank slate.
Well last thing I saw was that Dr. Ben Carson is going to have a major role in crafting whatever the replacement for Obamacare is after they work to repeal it.

I think it's not just the base. Trump won a lot of support from Obama voters. IMO we used to say the undecided voter is a myth, but maybe not. There are people in the middle, and Trump got them too, I would think. Unless it's just entirely different voters in the same districts turning out. I don't know.

                    • Obama got a lot of crossover votes. His main issue that he campaigned on was healthcare. He had actual policy answers. To the point where his staffers would have to cajole him into shorter answers.

                        • Hack:
The "sticks and stones.." is a 1st grade summary of the First Amendment. Americans are guaranteed the right to say and write (free press) what they think. The Supreme Court has held that we can't scream fire in a crowded theatre (I've always wondered if we could scream fire in a non-crowded theatre) and we can't write things that can reasonably be expected to cause an action that hurts others. But beyond that, we can say and write what we want. No one can bully you without your consent, Hack. You have the right to control your own mind.

As I say relentlessly, I think the education system has failed your generation. My professors taught me to prefer listening to the opposite side of my arguments. I watched CNN almost exclusively on the 8-9th. I read what you post with a student's interest. What you posted on the Wahabis might have been the best thing I've learned in the last year. Why the idiot Republicans don't simply say that the Ws are also our enemy, I will never know, but they won't.

As I've told you, the best compliment I received in college was when one professor said to me, "Geezer, you have no paradigms." I'm not sure he even meant it as a compliment. What harm would be if you taped FBN from 9:00 am to about 9:45 and watched it?

Now, What would you guys think of an agreement among UM, Ohio, and the Big 12 to have the loser of this year's The Game play the B12 champion in a "play-in" game?

And he failed. BIGTIME - on all fronts. That's what you just learned Wednesday.
