  • Would LOVE to hear Geezer or Hanni's thoughts on this new, extremely expensive entitlement program Trump is now proposing
I'm against any program that tries to manipulate human behavior using the tax code. I can see Trump's thinking- he's trying to appeal to suburban moms. I'm against his proposal

You have such a rich vocabulary to describe non-independent media. Suddenly here and now it's whatever's in this one is surely factual'' when you're talking about one of the more documented rags on the planet. Come on now.
Sorry. I had not seen a relatively complete compilation of Hillary's health problems. If the Mail is so objectionable, just read the links that the article gives. Then you are reading CNN and WaPo.

I'm interested in the phrase "non-independent media". A necessary corollary to that phrase is that there exists an independent media. I'm not so sure about that.

Me too. I've never understood the need to influence behavior with the tax code.

PI think Froot was referring to the six weeks paid maternity leave.

        • Hackers leak a bunch of CoLin Powell's emails. Almost certainly Russian involvement again. (They hacked WADA and released supposed 'dirt' on US Olympic athletes yesterday too)

Democratic megadonor Jeffrey Leeds told Colin Powell in two separate emails the Hillary Clinton's legal troubles would not make President Barack Obama upset.

I think that I expressed my thoughts on this a while ago... reluctant acceptance of the inevitable. Small government Conservatism is a non-starter at the ballot box right now, and even if it wasn't you can't trust the Republican Party to push for and implement anything. The next best thing is a nationalist movement that at least preserves the possibility down the road and mitigates the damage of the welfare state. And an anti-PC social movement that will pave the way for future Republicans who have any balls.

I'm not contesting the existence of her medical file. I'm simply pointing out that the degree of skepticism with which you consume media seems to be correlated with whether they are telling you want to hear.

Well I don't know about truly independent of anything, of course. You used the phrase ``controlled media'' a few days back. Same concept, I guess. But follow the money in this area means you can look at whether a publication gets its money from subscribers, advertisers, or donors. The first is best, IMO -- the best media are the ones people are proven willing to pay for. They get revenue stream from a group whose agenda is a desire to read good coverage. Funding from the other two are where unfortunate agendas creep in.

Which makes sense since that was a year before the crash. For whatever reason those type of crises linger longer that your standard run of the mill recession.

Hilary has serious health issues, accurately documented there.

Darn auto incorrect, it should have read "in other words"

The article you responded with a logic fallacy to is the example.

Listen, whether it's important or not to you as a voter is one thing, her health record is a fact.

I suspect most Hillary voters would choose an inanimate object over Trump (probably to be commended), so just make sure Kaine is a better choice than an inanimate object, right?

My understanding was that he was implementing the program with a child care credit. Perhaps we are both correct. After the "individual mandate" was found to be constitutional, perhaps the government can force an employer to pay maternity leave.

We all do that to a greater or lesser degree, including you.

In the case we are discussing (as an example), I posted an article from the Daily Mail that collated some of Hillary's medical problems that are already in the public sphere. Your immediate instinct is to attack the source. I then said something on the order of "if you don't like the source, hit the links within the article and watch CNN or read the WaPo. . ." And you keep on about the Mail. If the article is incorrect, point that out.

In the quote above, you do not doubt the "existence of her medical file". Of course she has a medical file. We all do. Is the article slanted? Perhaps it is to you since you view media through your admittedly socialist prism.

A few months ago I was replying to Entropy about a medical advance regarding cancer. He asked for a link. I gave him one at Breitbart and apologised for the source. I really didn't need to apologise, because we were dealing with facts, not opinions. Same deal here. There exist facts in the public domain about Hillary's health. The Mail article brought them together in one place. I found the article interesting because it was a concise summary, so I posted it.

And regarding Hillary's health, I remember when Phil Hart lost a Senate race in MI because he was sick much of the campaign. Hart was an institution in the Senate and was beaten by a nondescript Republican. Health matters, but in an almost subliminal way. That's one reason the Hillary campaign's default reaction is to lie. It matters.

                            • But you've gone on and on about media and bias and facts, moreso here than anyone else. As the loudest guy in the room on this particular issue, it just really stands out when you yourself become an egregious example of the problem. So it's true that we all do it to some extent. But this particular case is so off the charts that I couldn't help but notice.

                              • Government is a small group of people who have given themselves the power to do what the rest of us are rightly prohibited from doing. They write the laws, declare the laws Constitutional, and enforce those laws through the threat of force. Example: Person A cannot dig into the pocket of Person B and take out what is determined as "fair share" toward whatever use Person A determines. That is called theft. But the government does this to productive people every day. If no one voted, neither crime family could claim to be given a mandate. Trump v.s. Clinton is a staged production.

Do you remember when Bill was against illegal immigrants?

I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
