The lesson that won't be learned is that law giving national emergency discretion to the president is super dumb and needs to be repealed or whittled down to defining what a emergency is. Every president abuses this. This is not a national emergency. If you want to do things to China, it should be legislated.

The way Trump is going about things he's bringing in the notion of that the US can be isolated. He's trying negotiating tactics that maybe have worked for him in bankruptcy court. But this ain't bankruptcy court and the bond markets don't appreciate it. Some of these people think tariffs are the one cool trick to solve everything. It doesn't work like that.
