About as much time as Hillary got for Bengazi, .. or Hunter got for allowing the Russians to get access to his laptop?

But seriously, if a "midwest farmer" knowingly employed an illegal that they knew was also a criminal, I'd say they should be arrested and charged with harboring a criminal.

IMO, this is part of the package. Farmers and other employers need to see green cards or other legal work permits for any of those who are immigrants. Sorry, but its the law. I am puzzled as to why enforcing American immigration law is equated with nazism.

As far as the JFK, RFK and MLK files, I don't think anything earth shattering is going to be revealed. About the worst we can expect is to find that the CIA and/or FBI screwed up the investigations and left questions to be answered and didn't bother to investigate further. SOP

And I agree with you about the Epstein files. He probably needs more than 6 days on the job to get it done, but I think those files need to be released.

            • Epstein was arrested for the second time and died in prison on Trump's watch. He didn't release anything related to him in his first term either, despite constantly making empty promises that all will be revealed one day.

Detaining people for the crime of looking Hispanic and demanding to see their papers strikes some people as a bit 1930's European. I posted a story a few days ago about a US citizen and veteran being detained in New Jersey for hours because he couldn't prove his identity upon demand.

And if you want to seriously crack down, head out to rural America and start at the farms and slaughterhouses.

Agree, but these people can avoid any difficulty by providing a State ID or Driver's license. Those require proper documentation, .. or at least most states require proper documentation. Its the states that want to eliminate proper documentation (Hello Cally) that are the problem.

As long as Bodegas and restaurants in NYC and LA are treated the same, I'm fine with it. But I think you're wrong in your assumption that rural America is rife with employers who deliberately employ illegals.

It has been widely believed for a long time that half the farmworkers in America, around 1M people, are illegals. The raids on Jersey City bodegas to catch 2 to 3 guys at a time are peanuts compared to the serious numbers you'd catch if you raided a major produce farm. Or heck, raid any big construction contractor in the South. The construction industry is the single biggest employer of illegals in the country.

As am I. I too abstained in November because the choices for president were between dumb as a rock and an egomaniac with a personality disorder. I've said this before. There were many policy moves that Trump made in his last 4y that I could support - one of them was his tough stand on illegal immigration and working to close the US as the global sanctuary for any and all comers. He's backing up campaign promises he made on immigration in his first week as President. I support most of what he's done so far. There's some overreach for sure and I'm sure the courts will backstop that which is unconstitutional or exceeds the powers of the Executive granted therein. After that happens there will still be core immigration policy that, IMO, is a winner for the US.

                          • Just make every employer do e-verify. That should be first on Trump's if he really wants to attack the issue. People come here for jobs, they are willing to pick the crops. Arrest the businessmen who continue to hire people who they know to be illegal immigrants. To deny farmers in rural America are not hiring these people is denying reality. Maybe it's because Fox News doesn't tell the average MAGA about this.

Well, I still contend that if ICE wants to find bad guy illegals, they'd probably have the most luck finding them in the large metropolitan areas where they can get lost in the crowd, rather than in a rural area where everyone knows everyone. I can only speak to the area that I know, and out here the farmers plant wheat, corn, soybeans and sugar beets. There really aren't any vegetable farms. There are occasional dairy farms which are usually family owned and operated, so "Jose" or "Manuel" who is trying to hide from ICE will stand out like a sore thumb out here.

At any rate, anyone who is here illegally is breaking the law. Be it in NY, Ohio, Michigan or California. At some point they're going to be dealt with, and its the right thing to do. Special emphasis on criminals who have come here illegally, go to the head of the line to be deported. And that's the right thing to do. And those who knowingly hide them, should be subject to legal action as well.
