  • Post script........in writing my post above I searched the web to make sure I had dates and spelling correct. I came across the Wikipedia post below. Wiki is a great resource but it can be superficial. There's an enormous amount of historical writing about the political and military leadership that came to power in the late 1920s under the banner of the Nazi Party.

Among them was Joseph Goebbels. I read about him only in passing as I am more a historian of the German military during the period of 1932 to 1945. But reading what I think is a very well researched and properly cited WIki article about Goebbels linked below was revealing. To that extent we can learn about the dangers of political propaganda.

Now I want to be perfectly clear I don't agree with some people's characterization of Donald Trump as a Hitler like Nazi or see Elon Musk as I see Joseph Goebbels. But DJT does have a cult like following and his behavior suggests he sees authoritarianism as a better form of governing than cumbersome democracy. Elon is clearly emerging as a mouthpiece for Trump's domestic and foreign policies. One of the best parts of the Wiki piece on Goebbels was the detailed account of how Nazism's core values were promulgated during it's pre-war rise and augmented during the war starting with the Blitzkrieg invasion's of Czechoslovakia (Sudetenland) followed by the invasion of Poland.

Again, different time, different circumstances but there are clear parallels, if not exact, that attentive observers can discern involving Hitler's messianic rise to power in the late 1920s and how he purposely controlled the flow of information to benefit the Nazi party and himself and DJT's control of the Republican party and ascendance to POTUS. Fascinating read worth your time with a cup of coffee in hand.

      • I don't see Trump and Musk as heading up a new nationalist movement that is anti semitic. In fact, I'd say they are the opposite.

However this current Biden led government has been taking steps that embrace socialist values, and a more anti semitic tone in many of its ways.

When conservatives complained about Twitter’s rampant liberal bias, they were told “free market, go start your own.”

            Welp.

It feeds my soul to see Progs so fucking pissed that they and their lying propaganda asses no longer control information. Feeds. My. Soul.

My post is more about Nazisim being advanced in post WWI Germany on nationalist orthodoxy. While Nazism had a strong anti-semitic component to its core values, Trump's nationalist interests, a core component of his political orthodoxy, combines nationalism and populism to attract adherents (votes) to his world view and what he sees as a nationalist Republican party. There's no anti-Semitism there that I detect. The parallels between Trump's and Hitler's core orthodoxy for advancing their political goals and interests are there. Hitler and most, not all (Goering) of his closest advisors were strongly anti semitic and had years of that abhorrent orthodoxy under their belts. When I think of advisors close to Trump with the kind of influence that Hitler's advisor had on him (wholley aside from anti semitism), I think of Steve Bannon and Elon Musk

Throwing these terms around can lead to confusion. There's a lot of overlap between nationalism, populism and conservatism.

Populism and nationalism are often seen as going hand in hand. But they are different ideas, and mean different things.

The good news for Farage is that Elon is much less popular and influential in England than here.

Also it shows how far right Elon is getting when Nigel fucking Farage isn't enough of an extremist for his tastes.

                    • Nippon, US Steel file suit after Biden administration blocks $15 billion deal

Not mentioned in the article is that they are also suing Cleveland Cliffs, US Steel's #1 domestic competitor. Cliffs has been loudly lobbying against the deal. They tried to buy US Steel themselves but got outbid by Nippon. They are hoping, at worst, that a number of US Steel plants will shut down and give Cliff a near-monopoly over several domestic grades of steel. Their part in this has been pretty shady.
