I voted for Jimmy Carter when he ran against Ford, for the very reason you mention. I felt that America needed to move beyond Nixon and his scandals, and that Carter would bring a clean break from all that silliness. However, I still do not regret voting for Richard Nixon both times he ran. Politically, he was on the correct side of things. My biggest beef with him was that he didn't move to end the Viet Nam war fast enough. The Watergate stuff is typical of what ALL politicians do. Nixon was villified because he got caught.
