They pointed to the experiences in other states with voucher programs, including neighboring Iowa, which has seen the national rankings of its public schools slide since that program began.

They argued that school choice programs typically end up largely benefiting the people already making the choice to send their children to private schools.[/I]

Or, put differently, the voters want the persons who have sought better educations for their children to pay twice. Once, primarily through real estate taxes and income taxes in their municipalities, and twice through payment to the private school. The destruction of the education system began in the middle 1980's. Coincidentally, that is when Teachers' unions rose to power, basically to take control of government schools.

Put all the money in a bag, divide it among the number of students, and give a voucher to each child for his share. Then let the sundry schools compete using quality and price just like we do in most other areas of the economy. Dems are all for equity except when it benefits all identity groups.

    • Yes, and people who don't use public parks or the library or need help from the fire department shouldn't have to pay for those services either. It's pure tyranny.

Sorry we're not going back to the late 18th century, Geezer. You'll die unbearably disappointed.

Ten current and former Fox employees say Trump’s pick for defense secretary drank in ways that concerned his co-workers. A Trump transition team spokesperson called the claims "completely unfounded and false."

              • The final House race has been settled.

220 R, 215 D. But that’s before counting Gaetz’s resignation and anyone Trump is plucking out of Congress.

This is the biggest mandate in history and highest majority either party has ever had.

                • Widespread rumors tonight that DeSantis may end up Trump’s nominee for SecDef.

This in spite of THE_WIZARD_’s fervent support for Hegseth and insistence that he is the brightest military mind in the nation.

                      • Heh .....Hegseth, along with Kennedy, are two terrible nominations to, respectively, SecDef and HHS - both are loyalty picks and not based on qualifications to lead two very important organizations. A Desantis nomination and Senate confirmation to SecDef would set him up nicely for a run at the presidency in '28. The Ds would have a hard time coming up with a good candidate to run against him if he ends up the R nominee.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Well...if he can last 4 years without getting fired. He's light years better than Hegseth, for sure.
