RIght, it is hard to grasp the impact of this story on a football Saturday but, it is geopolitically huge. Russia and Iran, big supporter of Assad, are caught flatfooted and over-extended elsewhere. This is a potential boon for Israel and Ukraine. Russia and Iran, as it has in the past, are unable to provide back-up for Assad. Neither are Hamas or Hezbollah both severely depleted politically and militarily.

Regulation of AI needs to be discussed and sorted out, sooner rather than later. We can't let shady oligarchs do to AI what they did with social media. I say that without knowing whether regulation is even possible. But we have got to have that dicussion. AI is close to the point where it is going to be impactful in a lot of ways. It's the wild west now, but the wild west always consolidates into something, and our experience with social media shows that monopolies can exist on the internet.
Extremely shitty garbage human beings like Mark Zuckerberg, Susan Wojicki, and Jack Dorsey have been in firm control of how information flows in our society for a long time, with nothing remotely resembling accountability. It would be nice if that would change or AI would at least be a neutral and trustworthy entity. Chat GPT has been proven over and over again to be politically biased and heavily censored. Any AI that comes from Goolag or any other Big Tech these days will be.
