  • I don’t expect anything from Trump except for the border situation to get better. I do not think he will make sweeping positive change in anything else. RFK Jr. is a loon. I hope he does betray him (or puts him on a short leash). Tariffs are a mixed bag. Maybe Sotomayor or Kagan retire? I mean, what else can we realistically hope for?

I’m not sure anyone can be optimistic that we will be deftly governed into a new American renaissance. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s not something that happens with any regularity.

    • I think the "women's party" stuff is where they've gotten "too online". There IS stuff out there in certain communities that is extremely hostile to women but it's almost an entirely online phenomenon. Manosphere influencers, incel bullshit, big swaths of the gamer community, the tradwife movement, yadda yadda. It exists but the ordinary person knows nothing about it and doesn't care.

Every exit poll I've seen had economy/inflation as the #1 concern of voters.

      • It's the economy. Always has been. Always will be. Immigration and left wing lunacy were just icing on the Trump win.

        • If the Dems fail to retake the House in 2026 then they're in trouble. They ought to have a lot going their way. Midterms are almost always bad for the President's party, people will get daily reminders that Trump is an asshole, and the Dems still have the most reliable voters on their side. Someone remarked that the parties have reversed their positions from the Obama years where the Republicans always did well in the midterms and Obama won over the low-info, low-propensity voters. It's the opposite now

          • One House Dem I'm glad to see survive. This is the district where someone torched a ballot box. She's winning by a wider margin than 2022. It was a real nailbiter that time.

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

                      • I was happy to see the Trump campaign take the advice of many posters here and simply run ads with Kamala speaking in public. IMO, the single most damaging ad this entire cycle was her advocating for tax-payer funded sex changes for federal inmates. A lot of liberal Ds, some here, scoffed at the idea that people actually care about culture war issues and that it was even a loser for Rs. That take couldn't be more out of touch with reality.

My wife, who is not "online" at all and pays scant attention to politics in general, couldn't believe what she was seeing when that ad came on. I heard her say What. The. FUCK!? whenever it ran which was pretty much every commercial break during a football game. I think it was during that ad she just shook her head and said "I can't believe it, but I think I'm gonna actually vote for Trump". Kamala was THAT bad. One example of a highly educated white suburbanite woman who voted for Trump simply because the D's have gone loony-tunes. Normal people, especially those with kids, reject that shit EN MASSE.

                        • Kamala was a historically bad nominee...to get shit stomped by a convicted felon...a Hitler like figure...I mean...how can this be? You really have to be horrible to lose this badly to DJT...

Arizona's been called by at least some news agencies I think.

They're farther along than either Utah or Alaska, who no one casts stones at because they are irrelevant in the electoral college.
