Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.

If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!

Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.

Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

  • As for judges the next 4 years, Trump's made it clear he's done with Federalist Society types. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh aren't "loyal" enough for his tastes. He'll be seeking out more of the Aileen Cannons of the world or that Judge Flanders guy in Texas whose real name I can't pronounce.

EDIT: And this is where keepings the R majority in the Senate to 52 could be big. Murkowski and Collins probably won't approve unqualified psychos being appointed to the bench. Maybe a few other R's too. Collins is up for reelection in 2026 if she runs and Trump has not gotten his coalition to show up in midterms very well (nor will he put much effort into them I'd imagine).

        • I'm not at all sure how Trump's presidency will play out. I too don't think it will be restrained in any significant way. What I do know is that Americans overwhelmingly rejected progressive governance. I really don't think that should shock the world as I've felt that the progressive trends in American politics and government leadership did not represent the bedrock ideology of conservatism that is America. My only concern with a Trump presidency and with what looks like an R controlled House and Senate is an unwelcome authoritarian trend.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

          • Will Trump ditch RFK and Musk now that he doesn't need them? RFK in particular is a liability.

            • It was a change election. The Chairman is a giant albatross -- and absolute "disaster" for Ds. Harris was The Chairman's VP. Harris is a terrible candidate who couldn't articulate even a rudimentary version of her "change" and instead rolled with -- "yeah, The Chairman is great" (by choice, IMO).

I don't think it's much more than that.

Of course, maybe this was a cultural election where the strands of cultural populism don't stop in rural America but instead run through the entire working class in the exurbs, suburbs, cities -- regardless of race.

But I'd still go with my first thought.

And it's gonna be a total shitshow for 4 yeas. But that was guaranteed before the results.

              • "Latinos" have been moving to the Rs for two elections now, and the Ds have done nothing -- as far as I can tell -- different to address that bleeding. And it looks like DJT was in the mid-40s with Latinos (depending on the exit poll) -- that's massive.

With Latino men I believe he very close to 50% or even above.

                  • Yeah, the gender gap is real and it bites both ways.

I've been saying for a long time that "Latinos" are like any other American group -- there's a bell-curve distribution and they don't feel some sort of kinship experience (unique to AAs). They're far more like, say, the Irish than AAs. And they're probably, on the whole, more culturally conservative. So, it could be that this is just where these votes settle after a generation or two. Aided, in part, by the Ds continued willingness to treat them as some sort of homogenous repressed group.

                    • I just realized I compared a group to the Irish. My apologies to all Latinos reading.

                          • So, has Kamala conceded yet? You know a speedy concession ensures a dignified transfer of power that respects the sanctity of the Republic and our voting processes.

                            Or something.
