  • Well over half the Republican House caucus has determined that quitting Ukraine completely is vastly more important than continuing aide to Israel.

How many Dems voted to deny aid to Israel? Only 3 in the Senate and a couple dozen in the House. Dwarfed by the Republican numbers.

But that's what you get when your entire party starts to believe any compromise, ANY, is nothing less than TOTAL BETRAYAL of the base. And the base of both parties are blithering morons who should be deciding nothing.

      • It's not hard.

Republicans tend to sympathize with Israelis, while Democrats tend to sympathize with Palestinians

On the whole, The Wall Street Journal report that 42% of Americans sympathize more with Israelis than Palestinians, but these numbers vary significantly between parties. Only 2% of Republicans sympathize more with Palestinians in the conflict, while 69% of Republicans sympathize more with Israelis.

On the other hand, Pew Research data shows nearly half of Democrats are likely to say they sympathize with both groups equally, but are more likely to sympathize with Palestinians than Israelis, 24% to 17%, respectively.
Is 69 to 2 significant show of support?

          • Those 4 chair no committees and have close to no real power. But yes, Fox makes sure you know who they all are.

House Dems voted 176 - 37 for the standalone Israel bill. The Republicans voted 100 - 112 for the Ukraine portion. And even 21 Rs voted against Israel.

Over 80% of Dems voted for Israel and even a majority of the so-called Prog Caucus.

And let's also be honest: the Dems bailed out Johnson by helping him even hold these votes in the first place. Without them supporting him, the Arson Caucus was prepared to block votes on all this stuff indefinitely. And I imagine the Dems have an understanding with Johnson that they'll bail him out should Marge Green go ahead with her dumbass motion to vacate.

The Rs are hapless in putting down the rabid trash pandas in their party so it's up to the Dems to do the job for them.

So even among Dems, only 24% are more on the side of the Palestinians. And even then that doesn't equate to "pro-Hamas".

24% is pretty close to the % of House Dems that voted to deny aid to Israel too.

In neither case does it come close to the majority position of the Democratic Party.

Nearly half of Democrats say they sympathize with both groups evenly. That's insane in itself. Then an additional 24% say they sympathize more with Hamas than Israel. So three quarters of Ds sympathize with Hamas as much or moreso than they do Israel.

Sympathizing with Palestinians and sympathizing with Hamas are two totally different things. We'll never at all agree if you insist there's no difference.

And I know you'll say they were elected so yeah, they won ~ 44% of the vote of what was probably a shady election in 2006 and have never allowed another election to be held since. They have never held the support of everyone in Gaza and I doubt their support level remains even as high as 44% today. .

                            • And if you want proof most people don't believe Hamas and "The Palestinian people" are the exact same thing, here's this chart.

65% of all Americans (all parties) say Hamas bears A LOT of blame for the war. Only 20% say the same thing about "the Palestinian people".

                                Ridiculous.
