Abortion isn't a boring issue. It's just massively oversized in the importance that both parties place on it compared to how many people it affects and how easy it is to avoid needing it. Not getting pregnant is, quite possibly, the easiest thing in the world to do. It's, far and away, the least important "right" of all time. but yet half of the country would literally surrender every right that they have ever had in order to avoid having to use condoms or hormonal birth control when they have sex. It's purely weaponized narcissism and solipsism. You have no hope of surviving as a Republic if this is how people vote.

The Republicans are the Party of stupid on this issue for sure, and they are going to get punished for it, but the stupidity is double sided. Just as stupid as the R stance on abortion is the stupidity that it is literally the only issue that matters. Of course, you can't win over the population by telling people that they are stupid for wanting something (as R leadership has been finding out with Trump), so the Rs are going to have to accept this framework for now.

You really should deliver one of your condescending lectures to your wife tonight, replete with your trademarked sarcasm, on how she's a moron for caring so much about the abortion issue when policy talk like EPA overreach is so much more important.
