  • The Democratic Party is the one in power right now. This is happening on their watch a it isn't some unforeseen circumstance like a major terrorist attack or natural disaster. It is INTENTIONAL.

I'll let Hannibal speak for himself. The issue at hand is ILLEGAL immigration and how the Democratic Party has encouraged and facilitated this hamartian disaster. The Ds are in charge. Don't blame fucking Mike Johnson or whoever.

Mike, I don't view illegal immigration and legal immigration as two totally separate subjects. It's all part of the same system. Part of the reason there's so much illegal immigration is because we over-limit who can come in legally. I know you don't believe that, fine. But if you're Chinese and not some rich asshole who can buy your way in, there's a 20+ year waiting list. Because it's based on a quota developed 60 years ago. Shocking, just shocking, that a growing number of illegals are originating from China.

Anyways the system wasn't broken by just one party but yes, Biden can and should do more to return things to manageable levels. But there's ain't no way in hell I'm agreeing to HB-2 without getting things from our LEGAL immigration want list. Even the Senate bill said nothing about DACA or increasing high-skill immigration. Nothing. And we were willing to take it. Your leaders broke their word and walked away. Like they've always done for 15 years.

          • Anyways I hope everyone has heeded Dear Leader's words and plans to buy a case of Bud Light for the "big game". It's time to forgive and it's a great American Brand! They aren't Woke! Trust Dear Leader!

Need to accomplish something today, later...

            • I guess the Rs are partly to blame for a manageable but imperfect system and the Ds are ENTIRELY to blame for turning that into an unmanageable, imperfect system. I can agree with that.

I also think immigration limits are completely on the table, especially in exchange for something like -- Remain. I think you'd have a supermajority of Independents and definite majority overall in favor increasing legal immigration limits IF you put hard stop to the asylum-seeking bullshit. You may not get Hannibal, but it's a sensible solution.

              That's not where we are.

Yeah, first we need to address the sucking chest wound, then we can move on to personal fitness goals.

Meh, I woudn't say nothing. She got to be head of the RNC for 6+ years. Got to spend a lot on floral arrangements and limo rides. No longer has to attend Romney family reuinions.

                      • Secretary Blinken is in the ME shuttling back and forth between ME intermediators trying to get a cease fire in Gaza. Both the Hamas leadership and Netanyahu are digging heels in to accept any of the proposed terms. Hamas isn't going to lay down arms and relinquish control of Gaza and Israel isn't going to let Hamas control anything in Gaza - wants them out of the picture. Those two demands are going to hold up any deals. Israel thinks it can neuter Hamas by killing current leaders. That's unrealistic, IMO. So, the conflict and its impact on the civilian population is going to simmer on. Meanwhile, risks of a hotter conflict between the US and Iran increases along with increasing divisions involving the recognition of a sovereign Israel and formation of a Palestinian state.

One has to ask, "what's new?"

                        • The only new wrinkle is that Netanyahu is offering a much stronger response than Hamas expected. Nothing much will change long-term but let them know what the price is for butchering Israeli civilians. It's not cheap and it's inflationary.

                              • US (probably Special Forces) assets operating in Baghdad attacked and killed the leader of Kata’ib Hezbollah that allegedly planned the attack of US forces in Jordan that killed 3 US Army soldiers. The means of the targeted killing weren't disclosed. A picture of a destroyed, burned vehicle on the streets of Baghdad accompanies the NYT's story.

The Iraqi government has already complained to US government reps about action taken on their territory last week. There will be more complaints over this attack. I'm impressed by the reach of US forces to signal that the US will not back down from assaults on US interests in the ME and especially when it comes to attacks on US forces there. In addition, while various Iranian backed militia group have a collective objective of driving US forces out of the ME, that ain't gonna happen.

One can argue about the importance of US presence in the ME but how this presence is established and the importance of it is, IMO, an important part of the global US strategic approach. To me, it's worth defending that for a lot of good reasons.
