  • This is a big deal. Three defendants charged with obstruction in the January 6th actions at the Capitol appealed those convictions on the basis that Federal Prosecutors applied the scope of the law they were charged under beyond it's intent. The SCOTUS will hear the appeal.

The obstruction charge is central to Jack Smith's prosecution of DJT. If the Supremes rule in favor of the appellants, that will affect multiple other cases where the Feds charged people under that law. Importantly, Smith's pathways to a conviction of Trump on the basis that he obstructed a proceeding is toast. At the very least it will delay Smith's prosecution of Trump as SCOTUS will not rule until sometime in June.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

            • Oil prices have dropped from $90+ in September to around $70 today.

Don't hear it reported much but in Nov the US hit an alltime high in oil production. Ever since the Ukraine war started we are selling significantly more oil & gas to Europe than we used to and it's created a boost in production.

It takes people time to adjust to inflated prices but with consumer sentiment on the rise, there's at least SOME reason to think it's started.

                      • Redskins will soon come calling for a new stadium, too. Seems like it’s the right metro for wasteful government spending to get the green light.

One thing I read suggested that DC basically chose to sacrifice the arena teams in order to throw gobs of money at the Skins.

But a lot of people in Alexandria won’t be happy at all with this. The new arena will be built almost right next to Reagan National if you’re familiar. Just one Metro stop south. The area already has major traffic problems.

Giuliani has elected to NOT testify on his own behalf in his defamation trial. He was the only planned defense witness so I guess the trial's almost over already.
