C-Span is showing 212 Ds have voted on a rule for 2024 Energy and Legislative spending (221 Rs). Motion to table the vote to oust McCarthy is up next. Someone reported there are 5 R votes in favor. Gaetz will need at least 4.

I learned earlier today what happens if McCarthy is ousted. He was required, per a 2003 rule, to submit a line of succession to the Speakership in the event he is unable to serve (for whatever reason). So it will be interesting to see who he chose as his successor, who will serve as Speaker Pro-tempore, until formal votes can be held.
