Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.

Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.

If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!

Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.

Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

Hey guys, I'd like a million dollar loan and I'll put up my Timex watch as collateral. It's worth two million dollars! Bank: "OK, cool! We can't lose!"

    NOPE.

          • Attendance vote is done. 218 R and 207 D present. McCarthy can lose 5. If the Gaetz group has 6 or 7, McCarthy is ousted.

            • C-Span is showing 212 Ds have voted on a rule for 2024 Energy and Legislative spending (221 Rs). Motion to table the vote to oust McCarthy is up next. Someone reported there are 5 R votes in favor. Gaetz will need at least 4.

                Possibly Ken Buck (?)

Buck just started posting all the promises McCarthy has broken which doesn't seem like someone planning to keep him

                • BTW, 221-212 is the current makeup of the House (2 vacancies), so everyone is there. McCarthy can lose 4.

Make that 3. Gaetz only needs 4. I think he's gonna get it.

                  • I learned earlier today what happens if McCarthy is ousted. He was required, per a 2003 rule, to submit a line of succession to the Speakership in the event he is unable to serve (for whatever reason). So it will be interesting to see who he chose as his successor, who will serve as Speaker Pro-tempore, until formal votes can be held.

                    • Pelosi's one of the absent Dems and not expected to make it back for the vote. Ha!

                      • Well, there's 212 D votes on the board for the vote that just wrapped up regarding an unrelated resolution.

                        • 10 Republicans defect from McCarthy on the motion to table within the first minute of voting...which means there WILL be a vote proper in a few hours.

At least one of those (Spartz) said she wouldn't block the vote itself but planned to vote no when it came down to it.

                            • There's already 10 R "No" votes to table. It'll go to a vote to oust him.

I'm wondering how many of those there will be.
