Republican hack Senators who signed a letter demanding Weiss be made special counsel MONTHS ago now attack his appointment as corrupt and proof of criminality. Classic.

Tuesday could be a big day in the Fulton County election case. There supposedly is evidence directly tying people on the Trump campaign (thinking Sydney Powell) to the voting machine break-in and theft that happened in rural Coffee County.
Atlanta-area prosecutors investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia are in possession of text messages and emails directly connecting members of Donald Trump’s legal team to the early January 2021 voting system breach in Coffee County, sources tell CNN.

None of this matters. Its interesting to follow Trump's legal woes but he is a double digit favorite in the Iowa R primary and is likely to continue his primary dominance right up to R nominating convention in Milwaukee. Desantis isn't even close according to current polls.
I've read a couple of articles trying to explain why Trump's support among Rs is so strong. That his supporters are buying into Trump's 2+y long claim that Biden's election was illegitimate is by far the leading reason for his support. Even though other R candidates try to talk about the 2024 election as being about the future, clearly, it isn't. Among all voters, they are divided on the question of the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election results despite overwhelming evidence the election was legit. Among R's those that think it was illegitimate are overwhelmingly likely to vote for Trump in the primaries.
It gets a little cloudier beyond the primaries but, saving some kind of black swan event, I don't think there is any question that Trump will be the R's presidential candidate when it comes down to nominating one. That's disturbing on a number of levels, not the least of which is the turmoil that will boil up if he is convicted of a federal crime, esp. in the Fulton County case, involving questions of his own legitimacy to run for president.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. I had a Pace Maker placed 6w ago for what's called Sick SInus Syndrome that produced heart rates in the 30s with long pauses. I had a cardiac ablation last Monday the 7th directed at the unrelated AFib. I tested + for mildly symptomatic COVID on Tuesday. I was under general for the procedure as the CRNA doing the anesthesiology (really good, BTW) told me I might have a scratchy throat post intubation. I did, thought the sore throat was from that but when it got worse I home tested.
Started Paxlovid that evening and just took my last dose today and ended 5d of isolation. Felt immediately better after two doses but noticed some fatigue persisting through today but not awful. Pretty sure I was exposed on the last day of my cruise, not on the cruise ship but rather on the tour bus on Thursday or the bus ride to the airport on Friday - damn coughers!
I'm fully vaxed and boosted. I'd speculate this is classic SARS-2 reinfection despite being vaxed with the latest mutation, XBB (Omicron Lineage) 1.5 (Variant). Reportedly this mutation has additional spike protein rendering it slightly more infectious than original Omicron but not likely to produce surges in new cases as Omicron did when it first arrived. The new variant is on the WHO list of SARS CoV-2 variants of concern. Protection from my last booster 10 months ago is likely to have waned)
Sharing this because I think its important for friends here to know COVID remains a threat to high-risk populations greater than the common cold from coronavirus or flu. The reason for that is the amount of unknown damage to various human organ systems this thing is suspected of doing even when the infection only produces mild symptoms, produces no need for hospital care. Paxlovid appears to be, at least in my case, an excellent COVID treatment. We'll see going forward as there are reports of COVID rebound post Paxlovid treatment (I'm in a study group for that hypothesis)
My first bout with COVID came in November 2020. I had lingering symptoms of fatigue and some neuro, possibly cardiac symptoms I attributed to COVID that involved increasing arrhythmias and extremity numbness. Those seemed to completely clear and the cardiac ablation has, for now, seemed to have eliminated AFib (pending thorough review of my Pace Maker reports post ablation).
I remain committed to the position that vaccination is a personal choice. I plan to pursue revaccination when Pfizer expects to release it's monovalent vaccine (targeted against the EBB but not the 1.5 variant of it) in September. If anything it should refresh my overall immunity to SARS-2. It's no different than getting an annual flu vaccine that the CDC has been recommending for decades. The difference in urgency to get the updated SARS-2 vaccine compared to flu is this currently not fully understood potential for lingering symptomatic organ system damage associated with SARS-2 infections (Long COVID), especially for hi-risk cohorts - that's you if your over 65 or younger with a list of co-morbid disease (e.g., asthma).Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished.
