    There was a story about 5 years ago of the last remaining Civil War widow to die which was fascinating to me. The vet was an old man who lived into his 90s and out of appreciation (I think) for the assistance he received from a neighbor girl in his later years, he married her before he died so she could receive his VA benefits. She was still collecting like $43 a month for his Civil War service when she died in 2017 or thereabouts.

          The California state recommendation for reparations is, amazingly, a beacon of reason next to the San Francisco recommendation. I guess the one thing Progs do well is propose such mind-bogglingly stupid bullshit that other mind-bogglingly stupid bullshit only looks like regular ol' stupid bullshit.

                              Just heard about this guy today. He was the last civil war veteran to serve in the Senate. Died in 1929 (last House Civil War vet died the next year). Was a Senator from Wyoming for almost 40 years.
