Just one of many loans I'm sure--woke going broke but just like before there is no risk to to these silicon valley clowns.

$5 Billion out of $209 Billion in assets ain't really dominating the business. I think we'll find more loans were given out to shitty app developers or NFT scammers. The stupid shit that seemed like easy money in 2020 and 2021. A viral tweet going round has an "Ohio mother of 4" pleading for a bailout to save her little startup. It turned out her business was to charge the extremely rich $6,000 a month to plan parties and manage social calendars. And she claimed her husband "works in manufacturing". He does - as a Senior Executive at a steel company.

BTW the British branch was sold off no muss no fuss to HSBC. Taxpayers there on the hook for nothing apparently. But they were much, much smaller than the US division.

best line I have heard on this was from Kyle Kulinski, "Libertarian on the way up and socialist on the way down."

What this bailout does is just say every bank is too big to fail. And if that is the case then we have to rethink the entire banking industry.

If the hometown mom and pop bank went under. Does anyone think that the feds would be there to bail them out? I sure as hell don't.

The people responsible back in the Great Recession should have gone to jail. There were no consequences. There will be none for this either.

Bootstraps unless you are rich. There are two Americas now and every day the line between them gets bolder.

      • A pair of Russian SU27s intercepted a US MQ-9 Reaper drone operating in international airspace over international waters on a routine reconnaissance mission over the Black Sea. These are common as are intercepts by Russian aircraft. What isn't common is that per US reports, one of the SU27s flew in front of the MQ9 and dumped fuel and while these Ruski jet jocks were screwing around with the done they ran into it - specifically the propeller. I doubt it was purposeful but the pilot of the offending SU27 fucked up and probably did some damage to his aircraft wing tip or radome.

The Russian Ambassador has been summoned for a rug dance at State. Of course, the Russians denied anything beyond a routine intercept. Right - we know the Russians never lie about shit like this. The good news is that both sides will scowl at each other but they are talking. Nothing will come of this after the news cycle in both countries runs its course.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

        • This is a big drone about the same size as medium sized fighter. The damage to it due to the midair collision required operators to bring it down inot the Black Sea. The Russians will be scrambling to grab whatever is left of it. That could get interesting:

Funny no one talks about the trillions that Wall Street got right at the beginning of the pandemic. Congress could not give it to them fast enough. There was no debate on it.

Or the money given to other industries with little or no strings.

But the second there is anything for the people. There must be debate. Bootstraps for them.

The Pentagon just failed its 5th consecutive audit. They can't account for 59% of their funds. But it is unthinkable to ever give them anything more than what they ask for.

And yes this a little bit of straying from the precise discussion. But I suspect you and I would agree on a lot more than either of us would expect.

            • Some interesting comments from the Judge here

              Judge: DC Jail hasn't violated Jan. 6 defendant's rights | wusa9.com

McFadden, who served as deputy assistant attorney general in the Justice Department’s criminal division before being appointed to the federal bench by former President Donald Trump in 2017, noted that it appeared to him – far from being denied access to resources or evidence at the D.C. Jail – Jan. 6 defendants had received extraordinary accommodations to view materials in their cases. At the facility, Jan. 6 defendants have access to tablets to view the voluminous evidence in the investigation, including, if they are signed up for it, the government’s electronic evidence database.

“I’ve seen cases for over a decade now and I’ve never seen a defendant have a tablet to access discovery materials,” McFadden said, noting the D.C. Jail’s program had been developed specifically in response to Jan. 6 defendants’ concerns.

As to Quaglin’s other claims, McFadden laid his history of facility transfers at his own feet – noting he’d received “numerous incident reports” detailing aggressive and disruptive behavior by Quaglin. A Marshal’s deputy said in court Tuesday that Quaglin’s recent transfer to the D.C. Jail came after the Rappahannock Regional Jail reported he had been harassing medical staff. Addressing the length of Quaglin’s pre-trial detention, he pointed out that was “entirely of his own making.”

                • Weird rumors and they very well could be all bullshit. But some of the accounts I follow for Ukraine news are reporting very high tensions between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Iran. The Iranian Republican Guard put out some video promising they would not stand for any changes to international borders and highlighted Armenia. Azerbaijan is rumored to be massing troops along Iran and Armenia’s borders.

The customers panicked more than they should have and killed the bank. And the people supposedly in charge of making sure banks don't colossally fuck up had fallen asleep.
I don’t get too much into the regulations or regulators. But both the bank and investors knew exactly what the fuck they were doing.
