  • I considered the redundancy, AA, but thought the behavior revolting enough to warrant overkill.

I dunno, AA. He beat me up pretty well for my admiration of Tom Brady .

          Curious of your thoughts.

On one hand, it all seems perfectly in line with the mindset that MADD and other new-prohibitionists have been promulgating for the last quarter century or so - that every evil can be tied to alcohol and that the way to stop it is by restricting access as much as possible. It's been an incredible effective campaign- at least for being able to hold bartenders, storeowners and older siblings responsible for the stupid behavior of others. So, of course, others (mostly progs) have adopted similar tactics to promote their agendas.

But for the specific matter at hand, rational thought would question why any parent would even think of taking their kid to a "Drag Queen Christmas"- regardless of whether or not alcohol is being served. A little bit of common sense would tell you that some people just aren't good at word association- they might be confused by the multiple meaning of "drag" and "queen" and how they relate to the holiday. In that case, a little disclaimer from the venue/promoter probably would have helped.

But, no. Here we are. Stupid people keep playing stupid games for stupid prizes. As much as I'm not a fan of the way most alcohol laws are enforced, I don't think the authorities had any other choice in the matter. They couldn't bust the parents for being stupid. They most certainly couldn't upset the Alphabet cult. But they still needed a pound of flesh to keep the peace- because, yes, there probably (maybe) are laws on the books about porn mixed with booze.

          • Mike, unequivocally yes, revoking the liquor license of the place doing the drag show that allowed minors to attend is probably in accordance with state law. I'd want to see the state's regulation of venues doing drag shows to be sure. I think this may be the case you're talking about:

I don't know the content of the state law quoted in this article but I think it is pretty clear that the venue that hosted the drag show probably violated the law as I understand it. States can and do set standards of lawful and unlawful behavior so, no regulation of that when it comes to sexually explicit and vulgar behavior is going to be unconstitutional.

South FL is a haven for alphabet people. Just like straights who latch on to some crazy shit and support it, there are extremists to the cause of LGBTQ rights. These are the people that think it is fine to expose minors to sexually explicit behaviors among gays, lesbian, bi and trans people. Their argument is that everyone should accept this behavior and exposing minors to it will ultimately make them less likely to oppose it and accept it as a human condition.

I know and associate with LGBTQ people here in Fort Lauderdale. None of them would support what the LGBTQ extremists are advocating. Like any advocacy groups there are reasonable people among them and idiots on the fringe. I'd offer that the idiots on the fringe of the LGBTQ rights movement are a very small minority but they are the ones that get the news coverage when they wrongly assert Article 14 protection for their conspicuously vulgar and offensive behavior that a state, in this case FL, has legally prohibited.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

As for AA’s shameful promotion of DSL, I can only imagine somewhere Robert the Bruce smiles with great pride as AA continues his people’s long tradition of obsequious bootlickery of their betters, which includes Cayuga Tech grads and basically anyone able to use a can opener.

                      • Jeff, yes, that's the case I'm referring to. It showed up in my Apple News feed yesterday morning in a Vanity Fair article. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023...ther-drag-show

GOV. RON DESANTIS DRAGS ON ABOUT ANOTHER “SEXUALLY EXPLICIT” SHOW

As you can tell from the headline it was negative in nature. lol

The newly elected U.S. Rep from Orlando doesn't seem too happy about it. Anyhow, I just thought the reaction to this seemingly non-controversial action is over the top and very revealing.

No. The answer is pretty obvious.
