  • This was before the same judge that just fined Trump and his lawyers a cool million for abusing the court system.

Yeah, but cool in Nebraska is defined as driving a used 2010 Tahoe as opposed to buying a new one.

That's odd. I thought my 'dangerous' days were far behind me.

Several of the 82 employees that had access to the "decision" said they had told their wives or partners. Even the vote count was disclosed.

Also, none of the justices has been interviewed.

              • Yeah it's quiet about that but no justices or their families were questioned. Seems like a pretty big gap. About the only thing that can be ruled out with confidence is that no one was hacked. It was an internal leak. Possibly accidental but much more likely deliberate.

                  • so trump sues clinton for the whole russiagate smear that is well documented to be nothing but an amateur hit job. It was full of lies leading to fisa warrants, ruination of multiple trump associates who had to defend themselves for unwarranted charges. It also led to 3 of his 4 years being smeared by the press/investigated by mueller and millions in legal fees. all the while trump and biden have a few hundred documents of a sensitive nature and are being investigated by special prosecutors . While hillary destroyed 40,000 of them and got away scott free. yet despite all of this they say frivolous and clinton escapes again. trump gets burned again. this country is so corrupt

                              • Ukraine: the western alliance is spending a shit-ton of money to get Ukraine weapons to fend off the current Russian aggression in Ukraine and by extension to prevent Putin from obtaining his imperial objectives for a new Russian empire that includes former Soviet era eastern European states that are now democracies - albeit some in questionable form.

At a strategic level, Putin frames his policies and authoritarianism in a rhetoric that identifies these as a defense of Mother Russia against western hegemony and a unipolar world of US economic political and military dominance. Russian citizens and some governments that remain supportive of Putin's policies are buying his line of thinking. I'd call it a 70/30 split between a global perspective that is against/for Putin's apparent COA. But it's not that black and white as there are governments and their citizens that buy some of what Putin is up to but reject other aspects of it. Some of the fence sitters voice justifiable concern over civilian casualties and infrastructure destruction and poking the bear potentially igniting a much wider conflict that involves a force on force hot war between NATO and Russia fought on European turf.

Looking at what's happening in the Ukrainian battle space and at the tactical level, the Russians have poured huge numbers of troops into an increasingly smaller front that includes western portions of the Donetsk Oblast and are having some success. Military Analysts do not believe that this limited tactical success translates into any strategic shift in momentum that favors Russia. The costs of these limited successes for Russia is staggering. That is because the Russian army is substituting large numbers of human bodies for combined arms warfare and the use of supporting armor - of which the Russians have suffered unprecedented combat losses. All of this bodes poorly for the capacity of Russia to mount a more strategically relevant offensive and supply it.

Putin and his MOD generals seem to have little concern for the thousands of young Russian lives being lost in this almost feudal as opposed to more modern type warfare. Waves of soldiers are being hurled at Ukrainian positions across open terrain and being cut down by Ukrainian small arms and artillery with only small unimportant Ukrainian settlements being claimed as "conquered" by the Russian army and mercenary Wagner forces. An interesting political conflict of claims between these two military organizations of which of them achieved this success is going on within the Russian information space.

Western military voices are allowing leakage to the press who are reporting that these voices are urging Ukraine to hold off on mounting an offensive until the fruits of the money being recently spent to arm Ukraine are actually in Ukraine and in the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces. There have been recent high level face to face talks between US, NATO and military counterparts in Ukraine that are reportedly focused on current and future strategy and tactics - something the Ukrainians have been reluctant to disclose in past discussions with the west of this kind. I can see holding off a renewed offensive by Ukraine as appropriate. That is because, not only have Russian combat losses been high in pursuit of seemingly unimportant, except for symbolically, Russian offensive operations in western Donetesk Oblast, so have Ukrainian losses trying, mostly symbolically, to prevent these small Russian territorial gains. But this holding back has to be balanced against what appears to be an intensified Russian offensive. Not an easy balancing act when one is talking about combat resource conservation to facilitate a future, more complete and strategically relevant Ukrainian offense.
