Please support the Forum by using the Amazon Link this Holiday Season

Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.

Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.

If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!

Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.

Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

              • Indeed. I'd also like to this time to again remind everyone that democracy dies in darkness UNLESS it's The Chairman imposing a media ban on border facilities. Then it's ok because the darkness is just saving us all from a vast right-wing conspiracy story.

Correct. Rules for thee...not for me. Isn't that a dictatorship?

                      • Yeah, you know how the right wing students protest and cause civil unrest unless invitations for left wing speakers are revoked at universities!

                        Wait, oops, flip that.

It’s a pretty sad state of affairs on the free speech/‘respectfully entertaining opposing viewpoints without necessarily adopting them’ front.

                        • Yes, well, when anything the opposition says will harm marginalized communities and further entrench white supremacy, you really have no choice but to ban it.

                          • Duh. Opposing viewpoints are obviously hate speech if they are conservative.

                            • The fusion story is fascinating. I'll throw this out there, too -- there are lots of very interested parties who would like to see this go the way of the dodo. Remember that. And remember that the first computer was roughly the size of Bryant-Denny with approximately 2mb of memory. Basically, it was a much larger version of THE_WIZARD_'s brain that achieved essentially the same outcomes. Decades later and we're watching ultra-HD porn on our phones. Glory be to god.

That is to say, first you prove the concept, then you work on scaleability.

You mean like OPEC, and ( fill in the blank ) 'green" industries?

I'd be in favor of government support for fusion research. I think that's the way to go. Especially if it could ever be adapted to cars, trucks, and home heating/cooling systems.
