Probably not. If the Twitter employees don’t want to work, I’m sure that a line will form around the corner of people willing to do so. The retards who got fired for getting into public pissing matches with Musk, on the other hand, might find the job market to be a lot tougher than they were expecting. The demand for people who are experts at policing pronoun usage must not be very high.

    • I'm sure there's dead weight there they could jettison but Elon's making huge mistakes too. The idea of letting anyone pay $8 to imitate a major corporate brand was uh...probably not great?

      • Talent- In your Chicago days did you ever eat at Pizza Castle? Used to be in Gage Park but moved farther out to the burbs near where my brother lives. They apparently make an Italian beef pizza that he's been raving about

        • FWIW this reporter for Fortune claims that roughly 75% of Twitter's workforce took a severance and quit today. The majority of the ones left are foreigners on work visas who pretty much had no choice but to stay.

            • Elon Musk is demonstrating the accuracy of The Peter Principal. The guy is functionally brilliant but he's gotten a bit Trumpy as far as his ego goes. He's definitely overplaying his hand.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                • Twitter needs about 10% of the existing workforce to function and he knows that. He wants voluntary resignations because it's cheaper and cleaner. Obviously none of you have ever owned a business or have much biz accumen...

                  • The dude got suckered into laying 44 billion for a company that was probably worth 8 billion. That's not very good business acumen.

The problem with losing whole teams of engineers is a lot of tribal knowledge of the systems. You can find qualified engineers at a cost but if there is nobody to explain how everything works, it will be rough.

                    • He's not firing engineers is my guess. If he is then that's not smart. He may have overpaid but I doubt he's worried about that. He's firing the dead weight.

                      • According to DSL's post 75 percent took the severance of the ultimatum email. Apparently whole infrastructure engineering teams are gone, they accepted the three month severance. Good luck on that Elmo.

Well TBF Elon Musk has never actually run a legitimately profitable enterprise.

He may have overpaid? lol there's no "may" about it. He offered to buy Twitter on a lark and chose his offer amount specifically so he could crack a 420 joke. Tried to back out of it with a dozen excuses but the Chancery Court held his feet to the fire and he settled right before the discovery process was about to begin.

Maybe it'll survive all this but I dunno. The only big change I've noticed is how easy it became to imitate verified accounts. Supposedly the entire payroll team quit and most of accounting is gone.

The biggest mistake in the company's history was back whenever Jack Dorsey decided to take company public. That meant the pressure would be amplified tenfold to monetize the platform and JMO it isn't as easy to do that with Twitter compared to Facebook or Instagram.

                              • I don't think you will have to worry about them. If you are a systems engineer, you will be in demand.
