Exactly. That said, I’m pretty sure Bernie Sanders was helped with crossover votes from Rs in 2020. The idea of nominating a candidate that couldn’t win a general election.
Sitting here in November of 2022, my guess is that Independents would actually vote in the R primary for anyone but DJT. Presumably DeSantis, but whatever.
My thoughts on it are: (a) it's gonna be clear The Chairman is the D choice (JFC); (b) Independents are gonna want someone else; (c) they're not gonna vote DJT; ergo (d) they'll vote to give themselves an option they can at least hold their nose and vote for.
The prospects of a DJT-The Chairman Rematch ought to terrify the entire free world. I mean, it's almost LITERALLY the worst possible election choice we, as the unchallenged unambiguous leaders of freedom, democracy and the Western world, could up with. And it's "almost" literally because, in theory, the Ds could probably find someone worse than The Chairman -- like some nutjob city councilperson Prog/Socialist. I don't think the Rs could find anyone worse than DJT. I mean, I'd vote for THE_WIZARD_ over DJT.

No way would I ever vote for Trump. I don't see how anybody could after January 6th.
The key thing you will need to know is if you take a journey on one of Big Gretchen's beautiful new roads out on the countryside and see if the numerous Trump flags have been put away for good. If they aren't, all of this newfound shade Rupert Murdoch is throwing at Trump is utterly meaningless.
If wacko Senators like Marsha Blackburn want Rick Scott's handling of the NRSC audited, it's hard for me to see how this bozo is going to beat Mitch for leadership
I think we all know DJT wins a Battle Royale. I'd say his immutable floor is 28ish. Those are the people in Shitstain, Michigan that will never stop flying DJT flags out of their trucks whilst they drive on the state's diamond-encrusted asphalt.
But there's also probably 5-10% of DJT voters that aren't in for a penny in for a pound. And there's a shitload of enough is enough voters. If there's a clear alternative to DJT and only one clear alternative -- and that alternative is DeSanctimonius -- then DeSanctimonius will win. If there's another 17-person clowncar calvacade of the hopeless, then DJT will win.
So, there's hope. I think there's considerably more hope in the R primary than there is in the D primary. I don't see how The Chairman isn't nominated....at the age of Eighty-Fucking-Two.
