  • It is seriously a nice place to spend a spring afternoon. Lots of greybeards in attendance, relaxed atmosphere. Used to be cheap hot dogs and drinks but that's probably changed too.

In the real world, it's pretty well established that Michigan roads have always been among the worst. For whatever. reason, they have always been poorly built, poorly maintained and poorly repaired,

You should probably stop fooling yourself to think that Queen Gretch's beautiful new roads are going to be any better than the Emperors' (or Rome) roads were. Or. at least stop trying to fool the rest of us.

            • Maggie Hassan's lead in New Hampshire is 9.1 points as of this morning. Kinda crazy that not only will she survive, but her margin of victory is nearing the best any Democrat has done in a NH federal election since 1900 (For those unaware, NH for most of the 20th century was rock solid Republican)

It's been because they have been poorly funded for a very long time. Big Gretch has been working on it and you can see the results, but you can't fix in a sole 4 year term. Hopefully after her 8 year term is done, Dana Nessel or Jocelyn Benson can continue the long arduous task of fixing the damn roads.

Crash was sure the rags to riches story of Don Bolduc was going to come through.

                    • The lesson of this election is the GOP needs more Freedom Caucus influence.

                            • Interestingly, the Rs are going to win the popular House vote by a couple points and only win the House by maybe 3-4 seats. In the past, anything approaching 50/50 was a big win for Rs. Now, their votes are less efficiently distributed -- lots of 48% losses. Nevada, in particular, was gerrymandered by Ds for 3-1 D advantage -- but to do so they had to create one really safe R district and 3 close sort of blue districts.

Anyway, it looks like, whether through redistricting or movement or whatever, R vote "efficiency" is now coming down to the mean after years of punching above their weight in the House.

Yeah, I saw a quick something about that earlier this morning. Interesting. At least part of the explanation is that there were way more Republicans running virtually unopposed than Democrats.
