Also, back to something Hannibal posted on Batgirl. Someone actually thought it was pulled because for a "tax write-off". LOL. If the movie was any good, it would have been released. What is obvious (and reported) is that the screen testing was unspeakably bad. It is a total disaster of a movie. Now, I haven't a clue if that's because it's "woke" or just plain old garden variety trash. But, what's clear is that Warner Bros view the marginal tax write off as being more valuable than the actual film and decided to eat the $90M loss. If it were even a credible picture it could have made most of that back and probably generated a small profit.
So, you know, I haven't a clue why it's awful, but all of the evidenve says that it is, in fact, awful.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
I pointed out on the other thread that the #2, #3, and #4 highest grossing movies of the year all had arguably "woke" content. #2 and #3 explictly had gay characters in them. # 4 was a bit more subtle but Catwoman has been pretty openly bisexual in just about every fucking incarnation of her going back decades.
One difference I'd point out is that none of these films made a big deal about this content beforehand. There was backlash against "Lightyear" before anyone had even seen it because Disney decided to tease ahead of time that the movie contained "Disney's first gay kiss!!!!" or something.
Also the streaming industry appears to be collapsing as we speak and that's affecting these decisions. It turns out people don't want (or can't afford) a separate streaming service for every single studio & network they previously had bundled together. And all these separate streamers basically hacked to death the one service (NetFlix) that everyone used to love.

Nope. It's because the movies are "woke"
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
No sympathy for streaming collapse. What could have been a value add in the arena of competition, rapidly became a gouging opportunity. It may still become the death of cable and direct tv....you pay only for the channels you want.
I don't watch Fox News for the same reason I don't eat out of a toilet.
Of course it's not rocket science. Maybe that's part of the problem. Have you ever heard the saying "Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it."?
If that saying is true, does that mean froot and CGVT are intellectuals? Nah.
You’re gonna get a Hong Kong Phooey CHOP across the throat if you don’t get down on your ingrate knees and thank President Imhotep for that PPP loan, you unpleasant ape
