  • Winning an administrative position is different from winning a purely ideological voting position, which is what a Senate seat is. Not to mention, a Senate race puts a lot more spotlight onto that ideology, which is out of favor in the country right now.

That's not to say that Oz doesn't have a pretty big hill to climb though. He sucks as a candidate and he likely lacks the charisma to hammer the right message home, and he won't excite the Rs either.

    • Republican leadership, especially in Michigan, have been terrified to piss off the "zero tolerance" Pro-Lifers and they'll get waxed for it - yet again. Thanks to them, we're looking to have have 4 more years of Whitler- and at least two more years of Tlaib in my district,
This state consistently gives pandering Dems a rewarding political career. Look no further than Debbie Stupidnow, and Karl Levin. Tliab has a government job due to the stupidity of M voters, and likely will be in politics for as long as she wants. Kwame Kilpatrick, Jamie Blanchard, Gennifer Grandholm, Coleman Young, all are examples of stupid Michigan voters giving fools a good paying job in politics, then turning and looking the other way while they rape the voters who put them in. So I guess if rape is inevitable, sit back and enjoy it, right? That's Michigan voters.

Whitler will romp. And she'll wear the blue dress when she accepts another term. Nobody cares about the hundreds of people who died from Covid due to her decisions. She's getting a mulligan for that one.

      • You could have just stopped at "Oz lacks charisma." Unless you wanted to add "entirely."

But, yeah, it's more of a national vote, so that's the thing that will give Vance a lifeline (if he ever runs ads) and may get Herschel home, although I really doubt it.

They've gone and fucked that up. But, fortunately, the House will be won.
The House will be won but in margins maybe not quite as big as thought back in early June. If McCarthy's majority isn't well over 25 seats he will be prisoner to the Freedom Caucus, who are much more powerful and obstructionist than "The Squad" has ever been.

          • "The right wing ideologue can't win" is a psyop that the Liberal media runs to fool Republicans into nominating really shitty candidates who will either lose or backstab their voters when they get into office. McCain was their Magnum Opus. Come 2024 they'll glom onto a new "moderate" who will run against Trump or Desantis. Bank on it.

            • The opposition to Greitens btw wasn't that he's too "far right". It's that he's a colossal piece of shit that virtually every elected Republican back in Missouri hates. I mean Josh Hawley was instrumental in having him removed from office. And fwiw, Greitens was a registered Democrat until 2015 when he flipped parties to run for office.

Maybe Hannibal thinks Greitens domestic violence is his bona fides as a right wing guy.

I would expect the Rs to be at 235-40. That's not a huge pickup given where they are, but it's a big number and a good margin. 250 would be historically great for the Rs.

This, btw, the time of the election cycle when the party in trouble begins to think, hey, it's not that bad!

The Trump era has been so crazy, it's hard to remember in 2016 he won running on a moderate platform. He shit canned any talk of touching social security and Medicare, prior to him that was a big Republican talking point. The 2016 general he was viewed more favorably than Clinton by moderates. The race was decided by a lot of Obama/Trump supporters.

If you don't have a moderate in the GOP in the general for president you have to maximize turnout and forget about getting much higher than 47 percent. It's a formula that can barely get a president over the finish line.

                        • I'd also like to note that the DCCC spent a fair amount of money on Gibbs (for a August primary), so the DCCC appears to think he's a good candidate.

                          • It'd be a pleasure watching DeSantis get nominated and putting to the test Froot's "BIDEN BOOM!!!!"-esque soothsaying that a strong right R will struggle to get 47%. I mean, it'd be a PLEASURE.
