Scary thing to consider is that she likely will run at some point. And millions will vote for her.

1) If Biden decides not to run (and he shouldn't run) it will be very late in the game. Biden knows he is vulnerable that is why he is trying to move the primary calendar via DNC around to one more favorable to him. Like having Michigan first instead of Iowa (where he finished 4th). Most likely he will announce he is running in 2024 after the New Year.
2) Assuming Biden doesn't run. The establishment will be searching for another person. Harris was soundly rejected last time around and given her performance hard to see her getting the backing there.
Mayor Pete can't attract African American voters. He doesn't actually stand for anything (much like Harris and Biden). Everything he says is a word salad. I don't think he is the answer and the Harris ppl really don't like him (part of the reason he is transportation sec and not a higher profile cabinet position).
Manchin or Sinema? GTFO.
It would be a very late in the game if Biden decides not to run. The second Biden says he is not going to run all chaos will break loose. The nominee would be someone that is well know and able to put an organization together in a hurry.
The Dem voters (and this includes normies liberals as well).are to be looking for someone with actual plans and ideas. Someone that they know is going to fight for them. Even if some of those big plans don't happen. There has been a shocking lack of fight and leadership from the Biden administration. Of course, when you don't believe in much you are not going to fight hard.
Sen Warren could fit that bill. She made a ton of mistakes in her first go around. There would have to be some healing with progressives that supported Sen Sanders but I think they could be healed. I do have reservations because it seemed like she was reactionary and after she hired a lot of HRC and Harris ppl she leaned into the me too/woke side of things.
Sen Sanders would run if Biden doesn't. And he would be a heavy favorite.
Even if Biden runs he will get a legit challenger. And he knows that he is very much wounded. That is why when Sen Sanders got an invite for dinner at the WH the day after Sent Sanders said he would not run if Biden was running.
In the case that Biden runs (and 71% in a recent poll said he should not and around 65% said Trump should not run either). It might be someone like Marianne Williamson or Nina Turner. Or it could be someone like Sen Warnock (assuming he beats Walker).

Mayor Pete would be a good candidate for the Dems. He is deep into Left Wing woke politics but he is good at saying nothing. Being able to advance the agenda while looking good and speaking in platitudes was the winning formula for the Obama years.
Elizabeth Warren would guarantee a win for just about any Republican, including Trump. You couldn't come up with a better stereotype for an unlikeable, cranky old Karen if you tried. She is "America's Ex Wife".Last edited by Hannibal; July 6, 2022, 01:18 PM.

And if R's respond with McCain/Romney-like candidates, it will be even easier."in order to lead America you must love America"

2) Mayor Pete is nowhere as skilled a politician as Obama or Bill Clinton (tbf those two are generational level pols). He doesn't have the gravitas that pol needs on the national level.

Mayor Pete will get no closer to the White House than begging for the VP spot after the primaries. Far too much blind hatred of alphabet for him to be elected to a national position.
Liz Warren will be the Bernie Sanders of '24, making a big splash but going nowhere.
Kamala is relegated to speaking at community college commencements.
Sanders will be in an old folks home by '24 with a bowl of oatmeal in his lap.
All the rest, like JB Pritzker or Phil Murphy have no name recognition and a steep uphill slog.
The Dems need someone to come out of nowhere (like Obama did). Someone who can speak with the Avg Joe, not at them. Otherwise they need to start looking at 2028 right now as their next opportunity. (Unless Very Stable Genius runs...then all bets are off.)I don't watch Fox News for the same reason I don't eat out of a toilet.

Point being -- he will say things that align perfectly with the Black Rock and Soros-approved messaging that today's kids are getting watching Disney and Netflix. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss his ability to turn out the youth vote. In fact, I think that he's probably the best candidate being mentioned here to do that. He's gay and he has even adopted a child. It doesn't get cooler than that.
He also didn't register a blip with AAs or Hispanic voters.
Don't underestimate legacy media, but you have to show something on election day.
The reason that youth stick with Sen Sanders is that he talks about issues they care about (imagine that), has been consistent on them for years AND they know he will fight for them.2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. It took President Obama pulling strings behind the scenes at the 11th hour to pull the establishment behind Biden. And the endorsement of Clyburn (who was perplexed that Sanders did not go for his endorsement) that pulled Biden into the nomination.
Biden doesn't have a natural constituency which is why his numbers keep falling and not bottoming out.2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

2. Totally opening the southern border to unlimited illegal immigration. Neutering the agencies tasked with immigration control. Letting the cartels control the border in terms of giving illegals passage and allowing fentanyl and other drugs easy access to US markets.
3. BBB and other spending initiatives.
4. MMT has ruled the day in terms of economics, until just recently when the election looms.
5. Appointing a SC Justice who is a left-wing ideologue.
The problem is not that he hasn't "fought for" progressive policies, it is that he enacted those policies and the country is going to shit. If you substitute Butt-itch-itch or Fauxohantas for Biden, the result would be equally bad. What you are arguing about is how best to choose a candidate that can get elected by hiding progressive policy ideas from the electorate.

What looks to me to have gotten Biden the nomination is the realization that Bernie wouldn't beat Trump. There were a lot of "anyone but Trump -- er, um unless we're talking about Bernie Sanders" voters in the last election.
