Jan 6th Committee announces a surprise hearing tomorrow. Weren't supposed to have more until mid-July. They say they will present recently obtained evidence.
I believe I speak for the entire Michigan Conservative Crank forum when I say we will all be watching!!!
Russia bombed a shopping mall that's nowhere near the front lines. Dead center of the country. Current number of dead is 10 but over a thousand people were believed to be in the mall when it was hit so the number could get a lot worse.
There are two conflicting objectives of the two sides in this kind of action:
Putin, and be absolutely certain he's behind ordering attacks like this, wants to create such horrific conditions in Ukraine that the alternative available to Ukraine and it's western supporters of a peace deal on Putin's terms is preferable to a continuation of the horror. It is seeking political objectives through the asymmetric application of terrorism. To be clear, terrorists, like Putin, are committed to their cause and won't abandon it until they are killed - see OBL, among others who are now taking dirt naps.
Ukraine talks less about military successes - and there are some, such successes driving Putin to engage in asymmetric terror tactics he's presently engaging in. Putin knows he is unlikely to achieve what he wants militarily - the submission of the entirety of Ukraine to Russian control and administration. Ukraine OTOH, is trying to win the information space battle by depicting, correctly, IMO, that Putin is a monster bent on the destruction of an entire country and it's people. Note the heavy emphasis in Ukrainian official reports and those approved by Ukraine's media outlets on injuries and deaths of children, the brutal rape and execution of Ukrainian citizens during Russian occupation, the "filtration" and kidnapping for the purpose of removal of partisans in currently occupied territory where Russia is trying to establish administrative and police control. It hopes to persuade the west to ramp up sanctions, military hardware and money and potentially to intervene militarily.
My view is that the west has to come to grips with the likelihood that Putin's endgame goes beyond control of the Donbas. If that was it, he'd be signaling that. He's not. He's instead escalating and will keep escalating until the west backs down. Talk is cheap and that's all the west is offering at present. Meanwhile Putin terrorizes Ukraine and holds the world's democracies hostage till payment is made. Either make payment or decide to stop the hostage taking and black mail. Diplomacy needs to remain active but it's time for more than words.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
I was born a poor black child. Got my first job when I was 15. Married her 4 years later. been married 41 years. saw the world in the ,military had 3 kids along the way. 5 more grandkids all in kansas since retiring from military. unfortumateluy last two came tis year after we moved to zona so travel expenses are adding up. still working for another 4-5 years and retire once medicare kicks in. I think im an american success i dont owe anybody anything except to contribute to various monetary contests ie talents. I get why most kids are pissed off though growing up now--I think they may have to work until there dead ior disabled. middle class is dwindling. i kindda get the socialist appeal for so many of these kids. But this country has lost all senses of direction when i comes to rule of law--pretty much once trump was elected. rioting/crime/disrespect and morality depravity have now worked there way to the top of the food chain. top dogs in the government show no remorse in encouraging civil disobedience if they dont get their way. works for both parties as Jan 6 would tell you. if i didnt have so much invested in this country id move back to panama. or north platte
Probably clips from the Brit's documentary film taken in the Oval Office on Jan 6th.
Could be but I I'd be surprised if that's all it was. What's the rush? The House is in recess this week and several of them are flying back to DC just for the hearing. Could be related to one of the active DOJ cases and they want to turn over a transcript or something.
Has anything been uncovered yet that wasn’t already public knowledge to anyone who was halfway alive between Election Day and Jan 6?
I would say the majority of it was previously reported but instead of "anonymous source tells Politico" we now have a face and name say something under oath.
One thing that comes to mind is that we now know that they were kicking around the Mike Pence plan a lot earlier than I originally thought.
lol, yeah I saw this. The guy shouldn't have touched him but Rudy's been playing this up as almost an assassination attempt. Was like getting hit with a "boulder" he said.
More Jan 6 stuff. John Eastman was stopped and had his phone taken by the FBI while leaving a restaurant last Wednesday. They forced him to unlock it. Same day the FBI searched Jeffrey Clark's house. Somewhat interesting is it appears the warrant was requested by the DOJ inspector general office.
Having your guns temporarily confiscated isn't a conviction either. It's a temporary protective order. Courts have upheld them over and over again as constitutional and the subject of the order does not get to plead his case BEFORE the order is issued. He can request a hearing after a brief period of time usually.
I could say a lot about the Right believing false premises too. Like how it's incredibly easy to get the guns of anyone you don't like confiscated with zero due process. So I'll ask again, point out a specific law where this is happening, and we can discuss.
Finally I know it was Hannibal suggesting the gun bill could be unconstitutional and not you, but the bill didn't write any new red flag laws. It provided funding for their support. At least as far as I am aware. If so, the only way that provision could be unconstitutional is if all red flag laws are unconstitutional.
I think you and I are actually quite close on this matter. Read the Florida red-flag law. I'm fine with that particular law.
I am just leery of ex-parte decisions without an adversary hearing, that's all. I also have zero faith that men in power will act honorably.
And as to your faith in what the government says is temporary actually being temporary, I'll simply point you to the federal income tax, or, more recently, 15 days to slow the spread.
