  • This is probably the single biggest reason so many people believe this junk. So many of you are (frankly) fucking clueless when it comes to the election laws in your own damn states, let alone some state halfway across the country. So you're ready to believe everything and anything is illegal...except it ain't.
Meanwhile, JIM CROW ON STERIOIDS!!!!! JIM EAGLE!!!!! Stacey Abrams still hasn't conceded and still claims "100,000" (at least) votes were suppressed. And MLB still moved the all-star game to a state w/ MORE restrictive voting laws.

Probably the single biggest reason you and your party believe this junk is the Big White Supremacy Lie. So many of you are (frankly) fucking clueless when it comes to the election laws in any damn state. So you're ready to believe everything and anything is suppressing black voters...except it ain't.

Also, for good measure on not knowing fucking jack shit about laws -- DON'T SAY GAY! You people -- and I very much mean that singular and plural -- only give a fuck about what an actual law says if it helps you.

Good job correcting crashcourse on his nonsense. Can someone do the same thing for, you know, the fucking PRESIDENT of our country and the ENTIRE Democract Party?

    • Buchanan:

I only disagree with your assessment that we take steps toward use of military force. Everything else you posted, I agree with. And, it's why I think Putin is very much limited to this action. He can't touch, e.g., the Baltic States. His military can't do it.

In another time, I think it'd probably make some sense to jump in, push the Russians out and teach them a lesson they won't soon forget. However, as you've noted, it's extremely hard to defend an "alliance-less" nation against a nuclear country run by a man whose interests are not the same interests generally held by Nation-states. An obvious statement, I know.

Not as "alliance-less" as we might have thought. The quote from the article (at the second link below) illuminates that point:

The U.S., the U.K. and Russia committed in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum to “respect the Independence and Sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine,” in return for which Ukraine gave its Soviet-era nuclear weapons arsenal to Russia. Discussions of this agreement in the West have hitherto largely focused on the fact that it did not commit the U.S. to defend Ukraine against Russian attack in a binding way.

The agreement did, however, bind Russia not only not to invade or occupy Ukrainian territory, as it has done since 2014, but also to “refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine,” which it has done for nearly a decade.

It's also worth pointing out that Putin is much more easily brought to account by charging him with "Crimes of Aggressions." This is one of the 4 war crimes that legal architecture emerged at the Nuremburg trials following WWII. Biden, announcing Putin should be charged as a war criminal over the killing of civilians in Bucha isn't goign to go anywhere because of the legal standards that have to be reached to connect Putin with those killings. Hard.

Not hard is charging him with Crimes of Aggression: https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/centres-ins...ession-promise.

The search by the West for “off-ramps” that would allow Russia’s Vladimir Putin to save face while backing out of his unprovoked invasion...
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

        • So, just quickly on the Budapest Memorandum -- that's a fair point, but it's also clearly not a military treaty. There is no commitment to use force to enforce the provisions. There is, I think, zero way the US Senate would have ever ratified that provision (back when we still cared that the Senate ratify treaties). So, I mean -- I get it -- it's technically a hook upon which the US or UK could use force if it wanted to. But it doesn't compel the defense of Ukraine. And all signatories knew that at the time. Including Ukraine. And that's why Obama ignored it in 2014 -- other than to say Russia ain't respecting Ukraine borders (Putin, of course, claimed the treaty doesn't stop Ukrainians from wanting to become part of Russia!). And that's why The Chairman (and, TBH, any other President) ignores it (or would ignore it) now.

So, fair point in noting the treaty. But, IMO -- when I use "alliance" I'm using it to mean compelled military defense. In the context of what I said, that's the key point. This treaty is mostly nice words from ginormous powers to get Ukraine to agree to nuclear disarmament. It's words w/ zero action (except for Ukraine). And, if I had to guess, Ukraine had almost zero choice but to go along.

                  • I'm not familiar with many representatives other than my own, whoever the Speaker is and those glorified as heroes (heh, heroines) on the covers of, e.g., Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair. I assume the reps held up as heroines by our prestigious Media have some sway with their party so I should probably at least pay attention to them and their overt desire to re-make the US into a socialist state.

                          • Well, high crime is an example of systemic racism and, of course, policing is systemically racist. And, of course, Math is also systemically racist and rife with whiteness. So, using Math to show higher crime rates to, perhaps, imply that we need more policing -- fuck, man, David Duke couldn't have done better.

Standard caveat -- I WISH I were making this shit up....
