I thought you would have enjoyed The Chairman's most recent interview...and, given how little he interacts with the press, it's sort of a big deal when does. Lemme tell ya, he still nails that inflation answer EVERY. FUCKING. TIME.

    (1) No "serious" economist thinks we have anything other than transitory inflation.
    (2) Ok, it's here a little longer than we thought, but it's only a "top 1%" problem.
    (3) Alright, so it's not a 1% problem, but it's being driven by CORPORATE GREED!!!!! "Big Grocery" and "Big ____" are jacking up prices.
    (4) Starbucks is raising prices. Oh my dear lord in heaven, the end is fucking near.

You gotta admits, it's gold, Jerry, gold. I guess the only thing that would make it less funny for you is if you, like my wife, live in constant fear of DJT and see Biden's fairly shocking incompetence as paving the way therefor. Then you don't laugh so much as cry.

    • Turrible....... your wife is a Michigan grad and football fan that thinks Joe is paving the way. Man, my sypathies.

      • Didn't see the inflation talk but this part of the interview was bad

I'm hoping he's not delusional and will announce he's not running in 2024 after the midterms. But if anything can help him get reelected, it's the public getting a steady, daily diet of President Deals whining about the last election.

        • One other thing though is that if the Republicans have control over both Houses after this year, the dynamics potentially shift a bit. Lovers of divided government might think twice about giving Republicans, with Trump in charge, total control of the govt again. And Biden could become more sympathetic if a Republican Congress appears more interested in pursuing Trump's vendettas rather than y'know, doing anything productive.

But I'm confident that won't happen because the Republican Party is absolutely not an apparatus that's been repurposed to aggrandize a single individual. No sir, it is a party of IDEAS.

The Chairman was not good on lots of topics. Yes, that was particularly bad.

            • Talent, dunno if you saw this drama yesterday, but apparently Renacci and Mike Lindell had a falling out? Lindell promised to endorse him then broke his word or something? Renacci needs to hold the Idiot wing of the Party together if he's going to beat DeWine.

              • As for 2022, I don't think it's going to be much of a wave. First, I think the Ds have aggressively gerrymandered themselves into a solid position. I'm not complaining, but I find it interesting given the standard D rhetoric around gerrymandering (not that it's just bad, but it's an EXISTENTIAL THREAT!!!! -- as is almost everything the Rs do). Second, the Senate is actually favorable for the Ds. I actually expect the Ds to hold at least 50. Third, I think Covid will mostly wash away over the next 9 months into a sort of endemic acceptance -- if the Ds let it, and it sure looks like they're getting the message.

Inflation isn't going anywhere. The damage done to The Chairman isn't really going anywhere -- I think he's now probably operating with maybe a ceiling approval of 47ish. So, I still expect the Rs to win the House, but it'll be close. I think the Senate is a true toss-up.

And in 2024, it really depends on who runs and whether the Rs can conduct a normal, coherent primary or, well, not. The Ds are going to have a free-for-all, too. There's zero way The Chairman runs again and, IMO, there's only a small chance the sitting VP wins the nomination.

It's going to be bananas, b-an-an-as, BANANAS!

I haven't seen that. I did get a text yesterday from the honorable Renacci saying that he beats the generic D and DeWine loses to the generic D. Heh.

Anyway, the Ohio Rs tend to hold together, I think. They managed to nominate DeWine last go-around. As long as there's two other choices in the field, I expect DeWine to win -- he's an easy plurality winner. I guess, in theory, he could lose heads-up, but even then I doubt it.

                  • The way the 50 rednecks that live in Wyoming choose to govern themselves shouldn't have any influence on how the folks in Brooklyn, NY choose to live.
I agree with this 1000%. The government needs to stay out of their lives, and let them live in freedom and enjoy their own personal liberty. The government doesn't need to set mandates that demand that those 50 rednecks get vaxed with a vaccine they don't want, and threaten to take away their jobs, remove their children from public schools, and threaten to restrict their travel. If the people of Wyoming choose to be pro-life, while those in NYC choose to have unlimited abortions, that's what those states have chosen to do. The feds need to butt out.

I'd welcome you to the light, but I think your statement was likely a mistaken one time expression of support for personal freedom and liberty.

                    • Meanwhile I'm genuinely glad this appears to be ending without much incident. Cops are going vehicle to vehicle at the bridge and telling the drivers to leave now or get arrested and risk a huge fine. Every single one they've approached has left.

                      • I don't know the details regarding the police forces and the tactical plan - and admittedly these are really important - but this was an effective show of policing force that broke up a determined and probably armed bunch of protesters. How does Ottawa pull this off yet Minneapolis and Portland, among others, let protesters turn riotous and in the end destroy billions in property?

Wait. Progressive governments in the cities that burned more interested in virtue signaling than carrying out their sworn duty to protect citizens and their property. And we've laughed at Canada. I'm not laughing anymore.
