  • What about people who derive their income from corporations which are, on balance, takers? If there was actually a way to calculate that, it would be interesting to allow for lobbyist expenditure as a function of giving/taking. Which may or may not raise ethical issues depending on your of personal sense of morality, and in truth would cost a ton to calculate, but it's interesting nonetheless. I'd start with the automatic disqualification of any company keeping any retained earnings overseas in any jurisdiction of any type.

FBI thinks it may have been an act of domestic terrorism.

Hack, are you still with us?

Did anyone expect that there would be a significant number of people in the club on facebook at that point?

              • Swat team eventually killed the shooter, 320 people inside the club at the time of the shooting.

At a press conference on Sunday at 7 a.m., FBI assistant agent in charge of the agency's Tampa division Ron Hopper was asked if the shooter, who was shot and killed by police, had ties to Jihadist terror groups. "At this time we're looking at all angles right now." the official said. "We do have suggestions that that individual may have leanings towards that, that particular ideology. But right now we can’t say definitively so we’re still running everything around”

The FBI also said the shooter "was organized and well-prepared," adding "he is not from this area."

                • LOL @ ``domestic or international terrorism''. Jesus fucking Christ. ``Whole wheat or bleached flour terrorism'' could also be an option. Add another to the pile of reasons to quit enabling Saudi Arabia though. FFS.

                  • Strange that this happens a day (or two days technically) after Christina Grimmie being targeted and shot after her Orlando concert.

They aren't connected, just weird timing. I'll wait for judgement about the shooters for a couple days... when good information is out.

RIP to all the victims, Christina Grimmie and the others.

                    • Everything is "terrorism" today. If someone gets scared its "terrorism". Its a term now used by gov't, police forces, and agenda driven special interest groups to cow people into blanket acceptance of whatever law/policy the authorities want to enact. "We can bring in the feds (read: bring in money) if its terrorism." The legal term terrorism needs to be much more closely defined. Right now its used by US and state authorities simply to scare people more than the terrorist act itself.

Suppose this whack case did what he did because his religion (if he's moslem) is intolerant to homosexuality? Because he also reads jihadist websites, does that make the event a 'terrorist' attack? IMO, no. He's a whack case who hates homsexuals. If a good evangelical Baptist Trump supporter does the same thing for the same reason, is it Christian terrorism?

                        • Omar Mateen, born in NYC.

A correspondent from the WFTV channel said Mateen was 29 years old and was from Port St. Lucie in Florida, nearly 150km from Orlando. CBS news reported, citing law enforcement, that Mateen was 29.

According to reports on social media, he was born to Afghan parents.

Photos, allegedly of Mateen, have been circulating on social media since US media named him as the possible suspect behind the slaughter.

The suspect was killed by a SWAT team, police earlier confirmed in a press conference.

                              • Miami Herald reports he has been on the Feds radar for 3 years?

WTF is that supposed to mean? It's going to take a bold act by Congress to minimize future Muslim/Arab/Terrorist attacks in this country anyway.

When the Israelis are attacked by Muslim terrorists, the carnage is cleaned up ASAP, often the cafe or market is re-opened immediately.

Not this incessant, 24/7 media circus in the US that gives the terrorists exactly what they want, unprecedented worldwide coverage, non-stop, sensationalism.
