Yeah. It has me wondering why all 400-500 of those hard working Dutch and Germans that need jobs in Geezers area don't move to better themselves.

I do wonder that if a GM plant opened in Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo if they'd have the same shortage of applicants.
It’s hard not recognize it. I’m still unclear why, exactly, we needed to do that re unemployment, but at least smarter states are dealing with it correctly. And that’ll eventually inure to Chairman Joe’s advantage.

To be fair, it’s not just residents of Flint that have a shot at those jobs. I used the city as an example because it is so short of good jobs and these are located in the city. But it speaks to a larger issue: IMO, a sense of entitlement and laziness. There’s hundreds of thousands of people within a 20 minute drive to Flint Assembly, AKA Truck and Bus, for us locals and old fuckers like Buchanan.

The factory currently produces both the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra HD models.

I guess we can just chalk it up to systemic racism.

              • I'm with Liney on this When I was in my early 20s at the end of the Carter years, there wasn't a job to be had if you had no marketable skill and even then things were really tough. Hell, even the fast food places didn't have openings. My friends were all moving to Texas or Montana or wherever to work in the oil fields. I kicked around for a while and ended up joining the Coast Guard. Jobs were so tight I had an 8 month wait to get in. If there had been the promise of a job in Flint for below union scale with a chance to land a good union job, I'd have lived out of my car to make it happen.

The right to vote is fundamental to our American democracy and protecting that right should not be about party or politics. Least of all, protecting this right, which is a

As a reminder, just four short years ago, in 2017 when Republicans held control of the White House and Congress, President Donald Trump was publicly urging Senate Republicans to eliminate the filibuster. Then, it was Senate Democrats who were proudly defending the filibuster. Thirty-three Senate Democrats penned a letter to Sens. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. and Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., warning of the perils of eliminating the filibuster.
