  • It seems Strangelove doesn’t have much to say re the Lab Leak stuff. I know The Media gonna Media and The Left gonna Left, but even you have to admit it’s embarrassing.

It’s ok to acknowledge the obvious.

    • Sure. There’s been a dramatic reversal in the media. It’s obvious as you say.

      • Don't worry guys, this is the first time that the media has dismissed a credible (if not likely) theory about something as a wacko conspiracy theory. It's an outlier that will never happen again.

        • Politifact has also retracted the "Pants on Fire" ratings that they assigned during their "Fact Checking" (LOL) of Wuhan Virus lab theories last year.

Vox Stealth Edits March 2020 Article “Debunking” Lab Origin of COVID

Left-wing website website Vox has been caught stealth editing an old article from March 2020 “debunking” the lab origin of COVID following numerous prominent officials now saying the lab origin is a distinct possibility.

Writer and investor Paul Graham documented the edits, tweeting, “Some of the stealth edits that Vox made to its article debunking “conspiracy theories” that Covid-19 originated in a lab leak between its original publication in March 2020 and now.”

The edits include removing the words that the virus definitively did “not come from the Wuhan lab” and saying that the fact the virus emerged in the same city in which the lab is located “appears to be pure coincidence” rather than the previously more definitive “is pure coincidence.”

Writer and investor Paul Graham documented the edits, tweeting, “Some of the stealth edits that Vox made to its article debunking “conspiracy theories” that Covid-19 originated in a lab leak between its original publication in March 2020 and now.”

“Vox is editing it articles “debunking” the coronavirus lab leak theory. These edits aren’t being disclosed to readers,” tweeted Mike Cernovich. “Vox is a disinformation website.”

As we highlighted earlier, new information based on a US intelligence report reveals that three researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology became so sick in November 2019 that they required hospital treatment.

This followed Dr. Anthony Fauci acknowledging for the first time that the origin of COVID-19 “could have been something else, and we need to find that out.”

Last week, Biden’s CDC Director said she remained open to the possibility that the virus was leaked from the Wuhan lab and scientific groups have also asserted that the lab leak is the most likely source.

Following the bolstering of the possibility that the virus was leaked from the lab, Politifact was also forced to pull a ‘fact check’ that claimed it had “debunked” the lab leak origin theory of COVID-19.

For over a year, social media networks have characterized the lab leak theory as “misinformation” and removed it under the umbrella of “fake news.”
Now that more and more evidence continues to drop that such “conspiracy theories” were actually not only plausible but quite possibly true, the backpedaling continues apace.

He also might have been right about Covid/SARS2/Wuhan all along. The sudden lapse of credibility that comes from retractions and backtracking of what was dismissed as "Tin Foil conspiracies" last year doesn't look good for the people that were so obsessed with getting rid of the guy. It kinda looks like they would do anything to blame Trump- even if it meant creating a epidemic of fear, and division that rivaled, and maybe exceeded, that of the virus itself. As an FYI, some of us saw this coming.

But hey, you got rid of the guy. Take pride.

Speaking of which, in addition to Chairman Joe’s media blackout, which The Media is kowtowing to, Chairman Joe denied R Reps access to facilities. One can only imagine if AOC was treated that way.

The Media carries a lot of water for the Ds in turn making sure the messaging accords with The Party.

                  • It might be different on a mail in ballot? I don't know, just throwing it out there. Seems like they'd have to match the ballot to a name on the roll.
Here where I vote in Michigan the first thing you do is show ID (HORRORS!!!), then the clerk checks to see if you're registered in that precinct. When they see you are, they pull out a paper ballot, and there is a serial number on the ballot. That is written on the slip that you filled out with your name, and you signed. At no time is your name written on your ballot, otherwise how could it be considered a secret ballot? Anyone with access to ballots could look at the ballot and see how you voted.

When they are recounting, they match numbers with numbers.

This past election, I chose to have a mail in ballot. My name was not on the ballot anywhere.

Point is, if we really believe in transparent elections, I don't see what the problem is if people are watching, and pictures are taken.

If you go into a casino, there are cameras everywhere, watching you AND the employees. That blackjack dealer is being watched just as much as you are. Elections should be the same way.

                        Epidemic of fear?

600,000 Americans died FFS. There was good reason to be afraid and the Meeeeeeeediaaaaaaaa reported on those reasons.

The situation was dynamic and guidelines and tactics changed as we learned more. Hence "retractions" whether that was in washing hands, locking down, wearing maskes or the fucking source of the virus itself. Of course, the right wing morons and conspiracy theorist see that as proof that they were only trying to bring down Trump. Jesus that is stupid.

Just because Buchanan couldn't get onto a 600' petri dish with thousands of his closest friends doesn't mean that there was not reason to take precautions to try to get this shit under control. It appears that the "epidemic of fear" did just that. Mainly because of these precautions and most importantly the vaccine, life is getting back to normal and the media is reporting on that. Of course, they are reporting that things could go sideways, because, well, they could.

Jesus. You still have morons that won't get vaccinated, believe it was a hoax and it was all created to bring Trump down.

                        But you know, MUH FREEDUMBS!
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

                          Correct. Obvious.

Matt Yglesias details how brazenly awful The Media was re Lab Leak: https://www.slowboring.com/p/the-medias-lab-leak-fiasco (I also agree with him on the ultimate cost of the lies of The Media and The Left....but, again, it's instructive on what those particular institutions are).

He is, of course, left of center and a former Vox bigwig. But, even he has to acknowledge how dishonest The Media was. And, as Hannibal noted, some in The Media aren't even willing to own up to being so grossly wrong (and politically motivated in so doing) -- they, instead, try to re-write their accusations.

The Lab Leak theory WAS a crazy "QAnon Conspiracy Theory" according to The Left and The Media. It's astounding.

Of course, there are some on The Left who swallow it whole hog and don't have a critical thinking bone in their body. It's why The Left thinks Covid is roughly 5X more dangerous than it is and why The Left thinks THOUSANDS of unarmed black folks are shot by the police. Lemmings.

                          • This would also be the spot to, again, give kudos to Governor DeSantis for not pandering to the fear monkeys and actually making sound policy decisions. Again, The Media exhalted Cuomo and Whitmer and excoriated DeSantis because, well, that's what The Media and The Left does. Again, there evidence is massive in both the scale of the attacks and, of course, how wrong they were.

Perhaps if The Media weren't the tool of The Lef they would make wildly wrong errors toward the other side. You know, the distribution of their errors would fall on each side equally. But, LMMFAO.

I just can't believe anyone even disputes this any more. I mean, at least acknowledge the obvious and maybe argue the severity and impact -- but, the obvious is obvious.

                            • It looks like the infrastructure bill will be at least $1T https://www.cbsnews.com/news/infrast...al-1-trillion/

I'm not particularly convinced there's some sort of huge need for infrastrucure spending -- we've llent a ton on it. I'm 100% certain there's no need for Amtrak spending. Heh. But, if it's actual infrastructure and not the bullshit Chairman Joe added on -- like the bulk of his bull -- then whatever. This ought to be an issue where there is a middle ground where neither side is particularly happy but each can accept.

I'd be nice if we didn't do a massive money drop just as the economy is finally set to go ahead, but that's another issue.
