  • Jeff - are they using the same vaccines in England that we're using here, or is it just one?

So Wolf? How do you like this little taste of socialism? Need some ketchup to make it more palatable?

The UK has three vaccines approved for use: Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca and Moderna, all of which require two doses for maximum protection.

Anecdotally there is only slight variations in the efficiency of all three vaccines in real life to prevent serious illness and death. I think this is what you're getting at. Is the UK using a less efficient vaccine. The answer is no.

Remember that efficacy (what's obtained in the controlled lab circumstance) and efficiency (what actually happens in real life) are different measures of vaccines. You may recall that studies done by manufacturers of all the vaccines in circulation, done as part of the approval process for use, had some statistically significant differences in efficacy. Some of these were attributed to study design. On balance, all vaccines developed to produce an immune response to SARS2 infection have been pretty good in doing that. Even the Chinese and Russian versions have been good despite what news reports claimed that's because .......

The MSM confuses these two terms all the time. Admittedly, as they got called out on that, things improved ..... slightly.

C"mon Liney ....... we've taught you better than that. Chairman Joe is NOT responsible for the gas crunch. The US government's cyber security outfits though and the owners of the Colonial Pipeline's apparent lack of a well secured system are hugely responsible for the shortage.

These are the guys that should be held up to appropriate opprobrium and blaming Joe diminishes the likelihood that will happen.

          • Thanks for the info, Jeff. I was also wondering if the single dose J&J is in the process of being approved there, and if so, if that might also help the UK's numbers. Seems like I heard a news report earlier in the week that the UK is the gold standard in Europe for handling the virus.

I get that, Jeff. My point is that under a socialist government, big oil will be one if their first targets for nationalization. If you think gas shortages have been bad in the SE over this thing, just wait until a majority Socialist government takes over. It'll be shortages "on steroids".

The J&J vaccine is not approved for use in the UK yet but they've pre-ordered 30m doses.

The UK is more precisely the gold standard for testing and genomic sequencing allowing it to be the place to go if you want to know about variants. The big ask right now is Boris' vaccine administration approach - the one he extended the time frame for the second dose - going to be responsible for rising hospitalizations and deaths if the new variant they discovered takes off in the UK. So far so good but its only the 3rd inning.

Seriously? Now I can see the Biden administration and some of AOC's left wing crazies trying to legislate a reduction in the production capacity of "big oil" - we've already seen some of that action but, nationalization? That's as bad of a term applied to energy policy as dire and surging are to COVID. They are all examples of nut grabbing terms whose value is to shock.

                  • I think its valid because the new democrats we're seeing are more in agreement with AOC, Tliab and Omar than they are with Joe Manchin. I see a real possibility of US socialist government in the next 15-20 years. Especially if Trump kills the Republican party.

                    • I don't see that at all. Manchin is acting as a counterweight. Of all the Ds and libs I know, none of them, as in zero, consider AOC, Tliab and Omar as influential within the party. Blabbermouth media whores perhaps, but no different than the nutjobs on the right and just as ineffective.

If all three branches were not D today, you think there's be a counterweight like Manchin from the Heaven's Gate Party? I see real possibility of a Neo-Nazi US gov't in 15-20 years, especially if the HGP does not purge itself of its own Marshall Applewhite.

                      • Both extremes are hyperbole. Raising either extreme as a possibility is "nut grabbing" verbiage meant to shock readers.

So far, with episodes in US history intended to tear it apart, the Republic has stood. The most recent episode - DJT and his supporter's antidemocratic movement to overturn a lawfully conducted election intended to facilitate a peaceful transition of leadership - was thwarted by reasonable people acting rationally. Notwithstanding it's continuation at the fringes.

                        • There will be an empowered Socialist party eons before there’s even a viable “neo-nazi” party in this country, and it’s not a particularly close call.

AOC’s signature is The Green New Deal. And it’s total socialism. Tell me how many Congressional Ds signed on for it. Tell me whether or not an avowed Socialist finished a solid second in the D primary in 2016 and 2020. You may Pooh-Pooh AOC, but she’s a persuasive voice in her party that no D other than a blue dog will stand up to.

AOC is waaaaay closer to the center of the D party than Manchin. It’s not even debatable.

                            • My son (13) got implanted with his first dose of Bill Gates's microchips today. So far so good.

Speaking of Bill Gates, he and Melinda are getting a divorce. Sounds like she wasn't a big fan of his cozy relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Can't say that I blame her.

I wonder if Epstein bought offsets for all of his flights to pedo island to stay carbon neutral LOL

I guess that I can't blame Xiden for the Colonial pipeline outage, but since shutting down pipelines is a popular Democrat pasttime, it should be noted that this is fairly representative of what gas stations will look like in many other parts of the country soon.
