  • Over the course of my lifetime, I've voted probably 40% Repub, 40% Dem and 20% independent. So that makes me a Prog, whatever that is. Talent has spoken, so it must be true. Just ask him.
I've voted D 95% over the course of my lifetime. It matters what you are now. And right now you spend 99% of time posting about DJT instead of, well, shit that matters. Again, he broke you. Hopefully it's not irreparable. Try to fix yourself and be better. You can do it. You don't HAVE to some crazy-assed fucking bark-at-the-moon #resistance nutjub. That's your choice.

    • The only Republican who will reverse the massive gains that the kook Left has made is Desantis. Haley is a swamp creature and Rubio is a wimp.

      • I’ve said it before. I don’t think people believe me. 20 years ago or so, Talent was what I would describe as a prog. Maybe even a gentry prog. Heh.

That's likely an accurate assessment. Although I think Rubio is trying to be less wimpish. It seems like it's DeSantis or bust for 2024 (which, I know is a laughably long time in politics). Hoping Trump doesn't throw his hat in the ring because that will be a guaranteed loss.

I was definitely a Clinton D. I was definitely a partisan D. I'm just lucky that the total Prog and #GentryProg bullshit of today was still largely hidden away in the dark recesses of the University.

It's too bad PSA didn't live to see the change. He always said I'd change.

If Trump wants to run, no Republican can beat him. DeSantis is young and can afford to wait till 2028. He'd stand aside.

I note that you very clearly say "Republican" so my counter point that The Left is far more likely to reverse its own gains than the Rs isn't really in any sort of contradiction to what you're saying.

However, as a R party issue, they are irreparably divided. There is no "big tent" for them. There is no sort of bullshit unifying garbage like "intersectionality" or "whiteness bad". There's just Trumpians and f/k/a Republicans and they hate one another. And it makes it fucking damn near impossible to appeal to the "trump base" and the fucking suburbs that the Rs need to win. The massive gains you speak of came because the Trump is toxic in the suburbs. But, any guy/girl who could win in the suburbs is labeled a "cuck" by you. But, you've been in a "burn it all down" mode for awhile. So, whatever.

The Woke are going to go far enough that it's going to be considerably easier to push back on race issues and the border and a host of other bullshit. It won't take someone who is so bracingly uncensored like PDJT to that.

At the end of the day, you can't fight any of this shit if you can't win. That's politics. Perhaps you think we're doomed -- it's certainly keeping with your posting. Maybe The Left and The Media will win. But, this isn't football where a loss is a loss -- whether it's by 7 or 63. I'd rather do our damndest to keep the score close.

                    .
This. Yet it took a supermagnet in the form of Trump to bring all of that out of the woodwork. We would have no idea just how crazy people would be if he hadn't gone out and pissed so many of them off.

                        • Geraghty is just dealing with the facts and Chairman Joe's brazen lies on issues that actually matter: https://www.nationalreview.com/the-m...t=morning-jolt

The border, paying people to not work and inflation.

Just for the record, yesterday (or Tuesday) the BLS reported the highest number of job openings across the country...EVER. EVER. But, hey, let's keep extending unemployment. JFC.

Also, of course, we continue to set records at the border and the CPI increase for April was the highest we've seen in 10 years.

Of those issues, two are, in fact, real problems but easily fixable -- paying people not to work and the border. Chairman Joe will not take those easy steps. Whether inflation is a problem is still TBD, but that one isn't as easy to fix. That one will cause some pain.

Again, the BOOM was/is coming. There is almost zero doubt about that. All you need to do is keep the thing in cruise control and "do no harm." But fuck me if Chairman Joe isn't using this crisis to Prog up the economy and "fix" problems that just ain't there.

                          • YouGov, which according to 538 is a "B+" poll and needs minimal adjusting -- has Biden +8 (52-44) and Wrong Track +6 (48-42). Other polls have him crazy positive, but I think this is probably closer to reality.

                            2022 will be interesting.

                            • Jon: Let me first compliment you on your raising actual issues. CGVT and Stan never do that. You said:

The non-Trumpers, (you know, the majority of Americans), while rightfully appalled at the person, disagreed with his policies. Trashing the TTP said "China, take our economic leadership position in the East". Inflicting tariffs that 90.7% were paid by American companies wasn't wise, especially given the retaliation against US farmers. Instead of fixing the immigration problem that we have, attempting to build a wall that nobody wanted is a stunt right out of the East German playbook. Trying to circumvent the Constitution to pay for it showed his disdain of the document. Subservience to Russia and impotence toward China were pillars of his administration. A laissez faire attitude toward the pandemic cost lives. Playing kissyface with NoKo did nothing except providing a tyrant with propaganda. Attacks on the ACA without an alternative to reducing health care costs was not in the best interest of Americans. Doubling the national debt needlessly was a blow to our kids that will have to pay for it. (Biden seems to be taking a page of that nonsense - the Repubs should be proud for setting the example!) The list goes on and on and on.

So, let's take up a few issues:

The non-Trumpers, (you know, the majority of Americans), while rightfully appalled at the person, TRUE

disagreed with his policies. Provably Untrue. Polls have consistently shown that there is a whole matrix of issues that the general public agreed with Trump. Illegal immigration, over-regulation, tax policy, Defeating Isis, Energy independence., to name a few. When TAXPAYERS are polled, they overwhelmingly favor most Trump policies. Remember, there is an underlying base of non-working, benefit receiving, welfare recipients that make up about 45% of the electorate. These folks never would never support anything requiring individual initiative.

Trashing the TTP said "China, take our economic leadership position in the East". The jury is out on this. Does the US want to cooperate with China, or are they an intractable enemy

Inflicting tariffs that 90.7% were paid by American companies wasn't wise, especially given the retaliation against US farmers. pure Prog propaganda. How did the farmers vote in 2020?

Instead of fixing the immigration problem that we have, attempting to build a wall that nobody wanted is a stunt right out of the East German playbook. Here we have an actual comparison between Trump's policy of legal immigration and the Prog policy of facilitating illegal immigration. 500,000 illegals have entered the country since Jan 20. Were things better before Biden dismantled the Trump policies simply because they were TRUMP policies?

Trying to circumvent the Constitution to pay for it showed his disdain of the document. I assume you mean in paying for the border wall. IMO, Trump was wrong in doing that.

Subservience to Russia. Nonsense, pure propaganda. The US increasing its output of O+G provably drove the price of oil and gas downward. The Russian economic system is vitally dependent on oil and gas exports. Subservience? Add to that giving Ukraine actual weapons to fight the Russians.

impotence toward China were pillars of his administration. Honestly, how does one affect China? Certainly, it is the foreign policy issue of our time.

A laissez-faire attitude toward the pandemic cost lives. We won't know for years how many lives Warp Speed saved or lost. We do know that, by removing CDC regulations and partnering with privately-owned companies, the US was able to produce three vaccines in the shortest time in history. I submit that the Progs, because of their belief in government, would have put bureaucrats in charge of plants (using the act that allows them to do so), and thus delaying the production of vaccine.

Playing kissyface with NoKo did nothing except providing a tyrant with propaganda. True. Was it worth the try? Specifically, should a President take the position that "I'll talk to anyone...."

Attacks on the ACA without an alternative to reducing health care costs was not in the best interest of Americans. The ACA has increased health care costs substantially. You work from the presumption that expanding government is a good thing. I don't. It is a basic difference of opinion. Becoming a socialist country is certainly not in the interest of working Americans.

Doubling the national debt needlessly was a blow to our kids that will have to pay for it. Provably untrue.

(Biden seems to be taking a page of that nonsense - the Repubs should be proud for setting the example!) The list goes on and on and on. So the Rs are the historically big-spending party? Who knew?
