I don't know if that's bigotry or not, but if you need to laugh, help yourself.

And I don't think my ID question was about anti-white racism. It was a question as to whether its appropriate to ask for an ID regardless of race, when a young looking person is attempting to purchase alcohol. My daughter in law is a young looking 30 year old, and she gets 'carded' all the time. She always keeps her ID ready when purchasing alcohol. If she were african american, would that be racist?

I'm still wondering why its "racist" to ask for a valid ID when someone wants to vote. You obviously don't have a serious answer to that question. Or, at least not a serious answer that you wish to share.

    • I also missed this ...... The Department of Homeland Security extended the US boarder closures between Mexico and Canada through April 21st. It is reviewed on a thirty day cycle so, this must have been done a couple of weeks ago. Obviously Chairman Joe doesn't want to be compared with Chairman Xi in these draconian measures devoid of any recognition that yes, people can now travel if they have been vaccinated.

I have a question? If the CDC announced on Friday that if you've been vaccinated, you can travel but our boarders are closed to travel involving all foreigners originating from foreign countries regardless of vaccination status. Oh, you say well if they could prove they were vaccinated, sure, they can come. But wait, there's a lot of people saying having vaccine passports is an invasion of privacy and creates two classes of people. The hole being dug gets deeper and deeper and policy gets sillier and sillier as the impact of vaccines is essentially being ignored across multiple US agencies involved in making public health policy.

American's can't do non-essential travel to Canada anyway per the Canadian government. Americans can fly to destinations in Mexico but there are hoops to jump through to do that. Not insurmountable but non-the-less a pain in the ass.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. JH chased Saban from Alabama and caused Day, at the point of the OSU AD's gun, to make major changes to his staff just to beat Michigan. Love it. It's Moore!!!! time

        • • Amazon has apologized for a tweet mocking claims that workers sometimes have to urinate in bottles during shifts, following media reports that the company was aware of the practice. “We know that drivers can and do have trouble finding restrooms because of traffic or sometimes rural routes, and this has been especially the case during Covid when many public restrooms have been closed.” It added, “This is a long-standing, industry-wide issue and is not specific to Amazon.”

I never implied it was racist to ask for ID to vote. It is completely unnecessary and an unwanted gov't intrusion. We as a nation do not have any issue with fraudulent voting. That is a fact. Sure, the delusional Trumpsters and Qanon folks will disagree, but no person, no county, no state has been able to present any evidence of even small scale fraud. Sure, you can find onesie-twosie out of 150M votes cast but that's it. FOR YEARS THERE HAS BEEN NO ISSUE WITH VOTES. Anywhere. So why try to fix a problem that doesn't exist? That's imposing a needless gov't mandate on the general population for partisan purposes. Funny how it's the GOP trying to impose socialist voter controls.

So why do I feel that way? Because outside of what's required for collecting taxes, conducting the census, and drafting in time of war, I don't think the gov't should know anything about you. Build schools, hospitals and roads plus deliver the mail and stay out of my life. You don't belong there, you don't need to be there. There isn't any problem with voting - so don't fix what's not broken. Stay out of our lives and consequently let us be free.

And the way to keep the government out of our lives is to elect politicians who promise to nationalize health care, take guns away from normal citizens, promote reparations to black folks, continue to "educate" our children to become serfs to the Woke Overlords, and open our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants.

Yup. That will keep the government our of our lives.

For that statement alone, you and I might be able to find common ground. For instance, I wonder why I have to show my ID when a cop pulls me over and asks for my drivers license. Can't he just take my word for it that I'm a legal driver? When I was admitted to the hospital last year, I had to show my ID. Why? When I bought a cell phone, I had to show ID. Why? When I bought my house about 5 years ago, I had to show ID to the realtor, the bank, and the closing officer. Why? Can't they just take my word that I am, who I say I am? As I said earlier, when we are out to dinner with my son and my daughter in law, she's had to show ID every time she's ordered an alcoholic beverage. She's the only one at our table that is carded. Why? Can't they just take her word that she's at least 21? I had to show ID 3 years ago when I bought my car. I had to show it at the dealership, and at the SOS office. Why? Can't they take my word that I am who I say I am?

Aren't these all government intrusions into our lives where its unnecessary and unwanted?

The libertarian in me wants to agree with you on those points, but I see the need to show ID in certain situations. Every year that I've voted in Michigan, I've been asked to show ID. Every year I show it without griping. My guess is that you do too, Jon. And I don't think its racist to ask a black person to show ID in any situation where I've been asked to do the same.

I'm going to be mildly interested to see if MLB can put their ASG and Draft in a state with a MLB stadium, that has "better" voting laws than Georgia. Is showing ID going to be the litmus test?

Yeah you were singing then praises of the con man Trump, he was a kindred spirit of yours.
Online donors were guided into weekly recurring contributions. Demands for refunds spiked. Complaints to banks and credit card companies soared. But the money helped keep Donald Trump’s struggling campaign afloat.

                    • Again, the Ds race-baiting lies when it comes to Georgia are astounding. No one is disputing that.

In most states you at least need to present an ID to register. Asking to RE-present your ID to confirm it’s you is hardly an intrusion.

Further, we have a long history of voter fraud. It hasn’t happened recently—as Jon notes. But, it’s been prevalent more often than it hasn’t. Further, EACH side has plenty of motivation to manufacture votes. So, it’s not like we just sit back and accept anyone who wants to vote without any sort of process. In fact, one can and should argue that the improved processes for ensuring 1 vote per person is why we haven’t seen much fraud. As an analogy, perhaps, I think it remarkably stupid to say, “hey, we don’t have any more measles so we can stop getting the vaccine!”

We can disagree as to what are or aren’t necessary rules. But almost everyone agrees there has to be SOME rules and almost everyone agrees you have to show your ID at some point in the process, even if it’s just once at registration. Those ought to be two points sane people agree on.

Now, whether you need a confirmation ID showing is debatable. Some states require it. Some don’t. I tend to think in this emerging era of relaxed voting - early, mail, drop boxes - it’s preferable to require the confirmation. I prefer ID, but signature would probably work well enough.

What I find entirely objectionable is the disgusting race-baiting lies from Chairman Joe and The Media.

Just say conceded. You obviously can’t refute anything I say so it’s whataboutism instead.

But, of course, I did say his claims were nonsense. I’m honest.

                            • Whether it’s required by law or not, how about showing some respect for the voting process and do the responsible thing and bring valid ID?

Assuming that people of a certain race aren’t capable of grasping, and managing, that concept does seem, well, pretty racist.

This is one of the reasons I was wondering where MLB plans to take the All Star Game and their Draft. Will they take it to another state that requires ID? MLB doesn't have stadiums in every state. The pickings might be slim if no voter ID requirement is the litmus test.
