  • I know Jeff is a Cruise fan, any others out there?

I found out Friday that the company would like to send 20 of us to a "conference" this fall on a cruise ship. I'm trying to figure a way out. I've only been on a cruise once, a Princess 5 day in 2008. Was absolutely miserable, with the exception of the single port call, I spent the entire time on deck or in my cabin reading.

Now, have cruises changed? My single experience was that the cruise was to eat, drink, and gamble. I'm a lightweight drinker, need to lose weight and derive no pleasure playing 0% payout slot machines. Have these cruises changed their format or focus?

Trying to think how to reject this valuable "reward" without pissing mucky-mucks off. I would do an Alaskan cruise for the views, but you can have that warm water shit.

    • I think the obvious excuse is HARBAUGH!!!! You don't want to risk missing a minute of HARABAUGH!!!! football.

As a side note, I look forward to Buchanan drawing and quartering you for besmirching the cruise. You didn't poke a bear; you poked a goddamn krakken.

      • Heh. Maybe the routine has changed on-board. The brochure showed scads of prancing nearly naked hardbodies, roaming the ship, but I wound up with a bunch of Stans and Jeffs hanging out with drinks in hand.

I think the company is optimistic about this fall. But it may come to pass.

        • RIP Marvin

I was 19/20 years old and was working 16 hours afternoons/nights and didn't see it live, heard on the radio... those were great times in boxing.

            • Hearns broke his hand on that hard right to Hagler's forehead that cut him, it was over then.

Donate it to a charity for the everpresent auction. Get a statement as to the retail price of the cruise package and deduct it from your income tax. Hard for the higher mucky- mucks to punish you for your beneficient spirit.

                • Hagler was one of my favorites. Although, I did make a fortune backing Leonard against 7th grade rubes. Well, roughly $10, which, you know, IN TODAY'S dollars...

Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Leonard...hard to imagine they'll ever be a better age for ANY class...

I like the way you think but sadly it would be in the hands of the corporate travel agency. I'm lobbying for the conference to be held in the Czech Republic as I've never been to our facility in Prague. I think Prague would be more interesting than bobbing around in a boat. Maybe I could still use your idea for a tax deduction....all I'd need is a cancelled czech.....

Prague is definitely one of the most interesting places to visit. Lots of history, cool architecture, plenty of good, cheap beer.. and a hearty distain for the false promises of Communism.

                            • Jon, what is the cruise line you would be sailing on and what is the itinerary?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I thought Hagler won, but made a lot of terrible decisions for that fight for a larger purse and also during the fight. He started the first 2 rounds orthodox for some unknow reason as he was a southpaw, then switched, but basically let Lenard win on points the first 4 rounds. He agree to 10 ounce gloves instead of 8 ounce gloves, and the fight was 12 rounds (not 15 like back then) and agreed to a larger ring. I remember Lenard always ended the round with harmless flurry's to swade the judges, and I guess it worked.
